I was going through a few shelves of old PC and other CD's a few days ago and happened upon this game. Not the version with all the extras you have there. Just the normal case retail. The disc is actually still in spotless condition. Loved this game back on my Windows 95 machine all those years ago. I swear I've tried to get it working a few years ago on Windows 7 and couldn't quite get it working. But lo and behold. Watched this video to see if there anything I needed to do etc, before installing. And nothing seemed that obtuse. So > Windows 7. Ridiculously powerful machine when I bought it. Showing it's age. It installed from the setup.exe (did what you did in the video. full install, uncheck DX) but at the end it enquired whether the install had worked? Ignored that. Opened install folder. Set the 'Monopoly.exe' in there as Win 95 compatibility. Nothing else. Went into PC resolution settings. Set computer as single monitor. In 800 x 600 resolution. Ran Monopoly.exe and it RAN PERFECTLY STRAIGHT AWAY. lol I will genuinely have a few hours on this game over the next few days. Like I said at beginning of post. I loved this game back when I only had a handful of PC games.
Do you know if there is an end game goal to the space station game? I got it to the point where I've got 4 cosmonauts and a large station, but it has started to become a micro-managing pain.
So far I see no win conditions… it’s a pretty weird game as it wants to highlight the simulation more than that of a game. Wonderful NOD icon my friend!!!

The game manual hints at creating a biosphere setup and that via science experiments modules, a total of 6 astronauts can be brought up at one time. 4 are a pain enough already those, it is important to create separate save game copies in the event one of the astronauts "rioting" or removing to cooperate...idk, it has become a micro-management mental stress game at the moment. "Houston, I need to use the bathroom." [Then go use the bathroom, good grief man, have to tell them to do every little thing lol].
I'm surprised I've never heard of this game before, Ubisoft made or published stuff was all over the place a few years ago and now it feels like you barely ever hear of them besides the occasional AC thing
Yea they had some wild games back in the day. All over the place that they published. This one unfortunately in 1 yrs time only sold 70,000 copies. Going vs RE4 I imagine was a tough market at the time.
No VM was used. Compatibility mode with some tweak in the settings and I got it to work. Wasn’t the easiest but was able to get it to play. Also you will definitely want to change your display settings as well.

So they idea is trying to see if these games work on a modern PC? That's a nice, creative and cool idea man! Edit: It would be great if the game audio wasn't so loud, it's hard to hear you sometimes.
Thanks, so far it’s been working for…. Some but quite a challenge. Some of these games are super old and cost cheap on eBay… while others not so much lol and they have interesting results.
@@AmpdPanda Oh tell me about it man, I've got a few myself that just barely run on Win10, it is always such a challenge to get them working again but when you do it's such a joy
I've been trying to find this game for years! I couldn't remember the name at all and I used to play it as a child. I saw this video as a recommendation and it instantly clicked. I couldn't believe it.

You're doing God's work sir. I was gaming since then, played Fury3 and Descent and all that stuff back in its time and I will say - every few years I build out some retro PC (last time I got REALLY into it, AIM 1.0 for windows 3.1(3.11 in my case) would STILL connect and work- and I was able to use a 486 DX2 80 (amazing what a DX2 66 will do if you push it and put a cooler on it) to "get online".... anyway the thing I was going to say is I also build out Pentium 3s and other things, and I always found it amazing how QUICKLY things changed and how some games work fine on a PC from forever ago and today if youre talking about the raw executable like in the case of Hellbender- and then other games would utterly stop working after a year or two because of things like the introduction of the Pentium (Example.... a Pentium CPU and true VGA required a Patch if you wanted to play El-fish properly.... I had to call Maxis and they sent me a new install disk for El-fish that supported Pentium and VGA). El-fish is an insane game with a crazy history and some dark twists as far as the creators... But also profoundly interesting and most def would require DOSBOX or something to work and isnt a windows game, Im going too old... but Still I mean as far as stuff "breaking" with time that was a big example. Back in those days its why Consoles were so popular.... We dont have that issue with PCs anymore in the last 15-20 years unless it has to do with DRM. The last big issues I remember were during the transition from single core to multi core CPUs etc where youd need a patch for games like Thief 3.
Fuck yeah, I did something sorta like this years ago. I tried to install my og quake 4 game and nothing. For shits and giggles I popped in Panty Raider just to see if that would install, it did and played fine. BOY WAS I PISSED. Ive been really thinking about doing a series like this, awesome vid I just subscribed!!!!
Haven't even watched the video yet but thanking the algorithm for presenting me a fury3 video lol. Used to love the demo of this back in the day on my dad's 586. I found the sequel hellbender a few years back at a pawn shop or something, but I haven't actually tried to install it yet, now you have me inspired 😁
I’m going to play this even more was challenging and fun! Hellbender I’m looking to cover next as well, apparently Gillian Anderson is the computer voice in that game, and I look forward to that!
if you want to try great games of the 90s, definitely try the point and clic adventures (it's so sad they don't make this anymore) like maniac mansion, monkey island, space quest 1-5. try Crusader, Xcom 1 + 2 (the best ever, although 2 is just a reskin with bigger maps, above water and in it), doom 1 + 2 (in VGA 320x240 as they were meant to be played, NOT 4k), quake but in either VGA or 640x480, duke nukem 3d, half life, descent, star craft, command and conquer, diablo, ultima 7 + serpent isles + 8 (NOT 9). some great console gaming too like mario 64 is so amazing still, final fantasy 6 on SNES and 7 on PC, mario world, donkey kong country 1-2-3, yoshi's island (the perfect game). oh man JUST listing these games makes me want to replay them all 😀
completely agree on how terrible microtransactions and how games in the 90s were REALLY good. i lived through itfomr 10 to 20 years old between 1900-2000 and these were the absolute best times. seeing the consoles and pc go from 8 bit to 16 bits and seeing games evolve and dreaming that one day 3D would be great and realistic. i played the Sierra games (king quest, space quest, etc), Xcom ufo defense and xcom 2 SO MUCH, Descent, Doom 1 + 2, Quake, Unreal, simcity.... those were the best times. also amazing was 2000-2013 (before xbox one / ps4) the games were also amazing but completely different. what a time
