Bungi Jumping started in South Africa by a wandering pair of Kiwi's the same year Nelson Mandela was released from prison. It embodied that sense of freedom, expression and wild abandonment the whole country was experiencing at the time. It was the time of a new flag and a new beginning and these New Zealand explorers found a place where first world restriction did not apply. It was by no means easy but with perseverance Gouritz Bridge near Mossel Bay became the hub of Bungi Jumping and in later years spread to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. One of the partners always had a eye on Bloukrans Bridge as it was the location of a commercial for a local sports shoe company they had been asked to do and the sheer size lingered while other operations were set up. Bloukrans was going to take some serious engineering and finance to make it a reality and with the support of some extremely talented individuals and Devon or "Devo" as he is known to all made Bloukrans possible.
