State audits are public records, the people of the state are entitled to it. The state has training for all fair staff including CEO’s, the public has access to those training too. They offer them online training and in person training. They are constantly having zoom training too, last one was a series that stated this April. They have always had training. Also in the request of the CEO the state will go to fairs and train them in person. The CEO is a paid employee, they are expected to perform. ~A fish doesn’t get an applause for swimming. It’s unacceptable to take “a little for themselves” Joanne is part of the problem, she failed to protect public funds, 2x. Would she be singing the same song if the public came forward with a lawsuit to recover those funds? She can be held legally responsible for the funds.
Wasn't Jen McGuire an employee with certain rights to confidentiality? Weren't those rights completely violated when an unnamed individual(s) posted the CDFA's report on Facebook, and then it appeared in the Ventura County Star? I read the audit and glaringly missing were the actual figures for total profit generated during McGuire's tenure. Parsons clarifies that in this interview. According to Parsons, when McGuire started in 2018, there was $5000 in the bank, and last year the fair generated $1 million dollars, with $600k currently in the bank. References were made throughout the audit to the State's compliance manual. At the very least, while doing the fairground's books, the State should be providing basic annual training on maintaining compliance to its manual to outlying rural fairground employees and boards, either in Sacramento and/or via Zoom. This would help build teams instead of breaking them down. My money says, the State didn't budget for annual audits or training and didn't pay attention to the Tri-County Fair until they saw the $$$. Perhaps speculation will cease when the entire story comes to light.

I’m watching Jericho for probably the 3rd time in the last 5 years. Amazing show that should have went on longer. Amazing actors and screen writers. Skeet and Lennie wer amazing and if you keep looking at the whole cast you wouldn’t believe how many great actors and actresses wer in this show.
Gas station memories. When I was in high school, my guy friends worked at gas stations. They were good kids and the owners were nice. They made $1.65 an hour which bought more than today's minimum wage. The gas station was a good gig because on evening or weekends if someone needed something simple, the kid would do it for no charge and would get a tip...usually $2 for a tire change $5 for an oil change. The kids weren't trained but they were honest. Some were gifted; a snowy blizzard night in the sierras my 1953 Volkswagen bug stopped on the highway. They gathered around the engine and one guy knocked on the window and asked if I had a baggie twistie. He stripped the paper off of it and fixed some wiring issue in the distributer cap. I think the reputation of used car salesmen didn't help. But in the mid 70s gas stations quit being repair shops. They quit having more then one kid at a time. The gas shortage in 73 or 74? Pushed lots of gas stations out of business and, crazy as it sounds, it seems as though gas stations turned into mostly dirty, unfriendly places for women. There were still good places but I swear, when I was young they were all nice. In every profession there are bad practitioners and excellent practitioners. Repair shops do need to move from transactional to customer based businesses .
I don't go out much and I take my dog with me most of the time. I take her in Von's on a leash and I don't let her touch people. Unless they want to pet her. She loves people because I taught her better than to behave badly in public. She is kept clean and has all her shots. I use to put her in the cart. I kept a large thick quilt in my car that I washed each time I used it to place in the seat section for her. I understand what you are saying about allergies. I try to stay away from people in the store and get what I need and leave.
