Thanks a lot for offering this wonderful and perfect interpretation of that charming piece, one of the best by Cui. It is rarely played because of its difficulty. If you have any relation with the pianist, could you suggest him another piece by Cui: his Nocturne op 95 no 3.
Good thing I was listening to this on my way to bed! Chopin uses much more of the keyboard, from bass to treble, but this is gently lilting, with a sophisticated blend of musical simplicity and complexity. Pianist does a fine job of bringing out the melodic lines in the right hand, amid the decoration. My copy is marked p and pp throughout - hard to do on a concert grand, I suppose, but I'd have expected a lighter touch, generally. Look forward to discovering more of Liadov's works. Thanks for this one.
Denis had the Lhevinne Roll in his Condon collection and by all accounts, the performance here by Mr Zebaida merits mention alongside that of Josef. Mr Zebaida's playing is exceptional in bringing out the voices of conversation...
How delightful! Robin Zebaida specialises in relatively unknown pieces. His musicality is evident and draws you to listen to those pieces over and over...
