Almost brought a tear. I have the A-10 for a rainy day as well. Just watched a video last night about the A-16. Trials to equip an F-16 with the vulcan lol.
Awesome birthday presents! I’ve had that A-10 in my stash since 1983…will build and gift to a flying bud that flew Warthogs. Simo build 3 B-17 Flying Fortresses and the Robot…DANGER, DANGER…😂
In 1988 I fell off a ladder and screamed "Danger Will Robinson!" on the way down. The boss didn't know what to think about that. Landed in sand. Luckiest man on Earth.
WOW! That B9 is awesome, I'm looking forward to seeing that build. I tried grabbing one of those a while ago and I never even came close to what it bid for. Congratulations, Max! Enjoy that build and have a great week. -David
IT'S GOOD TO BE" KING AND QUEEN OF STYRENE",HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY TO BOTH OF YOU. HOPE "LITTLE DEBBY" DOESN'T RUIN YOUR EVENING. GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES.GLUE TROOPERS ROCK-ON
Should do a report on the test plane that was the prototype of the A-10. Even had a mini Gatling gun in the nose to demonstrate the platform. The company is still around called “ the son of Knight”?
I only recently became interested in model building again. I just discovered his channel a few days ago. I'm saddened to hear he has passed on but I'm grateful he is still able to share his knowledge with us through his archive of videos. Thanks Donn!
I would buy a model of the Buick Y car. It is beautiful. The Ford Nucleon looks like a Fallout4 vehicle...would love a model of it! The Darrin and the LeSabre in 1/24th would be very cool. The Golden Rocket is strange but I would buy it in 1/24th. Bring on the OM hot dog vehicle! The #1 race car would be great if it is detailed as all get out like the Tamiya model I built back in '74.
GOOD VIDEO ON A PLANE NO ONE KNEW EXISTED FEARLESS LEADER.IF I REMEMBER RIGHT THE 80S WAS FILL WITH A LOT OF CANCELED MILITARY PROGRAMS.I CAN SEE THIS PLANE BEING USED IN COUNTERINSURGENCY PROGRAMS THAT PREVAILED IN THE 80S.HAVE SAFE WEEK AHEAD AND SAY HELLO TO DEBBY. GOD BLESS YOU AND FAMILY
The October 2004 issue of Wings magazine (published and edited by our friend Mike Machat) had an extensive article on the T-46. Too bad the plane didn't work out, I loved the way it looked.
Among my group of modelling friends as a kid we didnt have much interest in Lindberg aircraft models. The problem we had was the plastic could be very thin and brittle. Also the kits tended to have excessive "flash". So much so that small parts like antenna, gun barrels, or landing gear of airplanes were very easy to break removing the flash. The main advantage to Lindberg was they made models of aircraft that other companies didnt or were hard to find. Granted our group built aircraft only so I cant speak to other genre's.
It looks like a INTRUDER , a little bit ????????????? Don’t know what why this is such a RABBIT HOLE……… Only the LONG WINDED explanation by you YAWN 🥱 makes it a RABBIT HOLE ……. Your forlorn Eaglet at Frame [10:58] looks like it's at DM. The green ground cover will pop up after the monsoons, and then crisp and die in the relentless sun as the long hot summer drags on in Tucson. Funny, I never heard of this airplane. [EDIT] OK, You said they sent it to the Boneyard bc the AF Museum at Wright-Pat rejected it. I wonder if it'll sneak itself across the chainlink fence into PASM? OK, No, it's not in their registry. Then again, crushed beer can aluminum is currently 65 cents per pound. Aviation grade alloys might go for more ...
@@HootOwl513 I think it’s being restored at Wright-Patt currently. You’re correct, looks like the Boneyard. A very cool place. F-111E 68-009 was the first E-model in the Boneyard with my name on her left nose gear door. I got to fly her final operational sortie before she was flown to AMARC. My Crew Chief worked some of his magic on the TF30 engines for that final sortie…they were creating slightly more thrust…😉😎. Balls 9 is currently at the Fort Worth Aviation Museum. I have a photo with my crewed WSO and Crew Chief next to her left nosegear door after her final flight back in 1992 and with my crewed WSO in the same position after her arrival in Ft Worth in 2008.
@@JMdfcv I knew a 111-Driver at the Mt Lemmon Ski Patrol. That was more than 40 years ago, and I've forgotten his name. He almost traded a green Luftwaffe leather flight jacket with me for a red goose down vest. But the leather jacket was too small. If I could, I'd look up your lost Aardvark in the Boneyard, but for whatever reason the Air Force has cancelled the civilian AMARC tours. GWOT, COVID, Economy, IDK? So the T-46 at Wright-Patt is tail# 84-0493. Wikipedia says that # 85-1596 ''is on Celebrity Row and can be seen during the AMARG Bus Tour from Pima Air & Space Museum.'' Unfortunately those junkets are canx UFN.
@@HootOwl513 Correct wrt the T-46’s on display. Don’t worry about “my” Varks. I just checked the AMARC inventory logs and the other 2 E-models that carried my name have been scrapped. Balls 9 is on display at the Fort Worth Aviation Museum. Last time I toured the Boneyard was in 2007 while picking up one of our Det 1, 82ATRS Heritage painted QF-4E’s that went thru depot level Mx. Ha, just check the sat pic of the Boneyard and can barely make out the “F-117 Stealth Fighter” on the west side of Vulture’s Row, the 3 tires and the boarding ladder shadow 😂.
Max, thank you for a very informative and enlightening video. As someone who was originally from Long Island, I and many of my fellow citizens of the big sand bar have felt for many years that the reason why the Fairchild Republic T-46A failed was because of politics caused by a senior senator from Kansas who wanted the plane terminated so the aircraft company in his state would get the contract for the trainer. Thanks to the information in your video, it is now revealed the truth as to why the T46A program failed, and it was for many legitimate reasons.
That is one I didn’t remember. I went in in 1988 and I was in the Bradleys. One of our secondary jobs was air defense. Don’t remember seeing this in our ID stuff. Love the rabbit hole though.
Chicken test notes..... "First, thaw out the chicken." 😄 Max, button down the hatches, we Floridians have another Tropical Storm headed our way! Once it gives Tally some love, it'll angle over your way. 😯
