@@basicminiaturepainting really? That's odd. You should send Andy Hobday a message he's usually pretty responsive with stuff like that. Would be great to see your stuff posted too
@@PaintbrushPirate great minds mate just spoke to him,it's because it's work in progress and not completed work, but I'm uploading a video as well speak showing the first 6 complete
Beautiful table! I've just started getting into Barons' War, but I've printed some of that Printable Scenery stuff for other games. It is great, but your table here has really inspired me to sort out a nice Medieval collection.
Thank you! I love the stuff from printable scenery, I have to control myself because there's a very real risk I might end up buying all of their files 😂
The two handed weapon you can't identify is a faussart. They tend to get a lot of fanciful names like 'warbrand' especially in various games. There's a gloriously OTT illumination of one cleaving a man in half in the Morgan bible.
... Just made a comment about your pronunciation of Outremer on a previous video. And see you've got it sorted by this one. Facepalm. Lol. Another good video, and damn I envy your paint skills. Lol.
Outremer is pronounced "Oot-re-mer" (to rhyme with 'over there'). It's an anglicisation of the french "Outre Mer" meaning 'Over Seas'. Good video though.
So just looking to clarify. A unit, say archers has 1 action. It uses it (lets say to move), it can be given another action via a command (lets say to attack) at the cost of becoming weary. It can be given one as a reaction (lets say defence) again at the cost of becoming weary. Can a unit be given multiple extra actions such as say a command and a reaction, 2 commands, 2 reactions to enemy units? Also can a unit make a second action by itself and become weary?
@@danielward3568 as I understand it (looking briefly at the rule book again) Each group has 1 action, it can spend that to perform an action or a reaction, once it's done either of these the action is spent. A command group can issue an order to a group that has already spent it's action, at the cost of becoming weary (provided the group passes the command roll etc). A group can only be given one command per turn, so in this example of the archers move and then are ordered to shoot they become weary and can't take any further actions or reactions. I've just looked in the book and at the top of p.73 it says each group can receive a single action per game round. Units generally only have one action, so the only way they could become weary is via a command or if they run. I hope that helps!
@@danielward3568 to be honest I've had to read it several times myself to get my head around it. Whilst I love the rules I think they book itself could be simplified massively 🤣
Medieval wargamer puts out fantastic Barons War stuff. This game, rhe Footsore minis... Gorgeous and super high quality. I picked this game up at Carronade in Falkirk, Scotland from Sarissa. Super excited to get it on the table
Thank you! I've not actually put it anywhere online yet, but if I can get a chance I'll try put it in the Barons' War Facebook page if you're on there?
Thank you for this guide, I haven't seen any others that also tackle the probe droids. I had most of these paints on hand and they came in FANTASTIC! Thanks again!
@@PaintbrushPirate I had to rewind and listen again because I wondered why you were talking about Red Dwarf. In fairness, I was corrected by my children while reading at bedtime because I pronounced a certain Harry Potter character name as "Her-me-Oh-knee"
Great video, and great explanations to everything. Love the broken and shocked table, will be printing that out. You do keep a weary token when shocked. And one thing I noticed, groups that run can not perform another action or be ordered to perform one. They can only run essentially and be come weary.
That was so very helpful. Learning the game and this video has really helped me get my head round the mechanics of the game. Much better to show lots of "what could happen" situations rather than having a game. The charts really helped as well, and were very well presented. Excellent, thanks very for putting this out.
I have just had my first game of Barons War, looking around to see if I played it correctly. One thing that puzzles me is the coherency, I keep all the figures in one unit in base to base contact. Why would I want to space them out ?
I think (and I might be wrong) that you can spread them out more to control more space, for example if you're trying to control an objective or block a choke point. To move past a group you have to leave a 1" gap, if they're spread out you can keep control of the space. But, if they're spread out and you get flanked it can really limit the number of warriors who can fight. Hope that helps!
@@PaintbrushPirate Thanks for the reply. Dare I say it sounds a bit "cheesy" but will have to play some more games to see if I like Cheese. Must be some reason why it's there.
@@PaintbrushPirate if you search "king add-on" or "country add-on" you'll get a huge bundle for $60 USD. Don't know you're budget but I do think it's a very solid deal
think its not so much of the tail but more the stuff that a horse drops then and now , wouldnt look nice with a soiled stain in the back of a nice coulored barding
with your uncertaintanty about rolling separately for the commander; IF he has a different defence stat then yea you roll a separate dice to indicate that and it's just too bad if that particular dice rolls bad lol
See this is where I'm confused, do I HAVE to roll for him? Or if I've only taken 2 hits can I decide to roll for the 2 other guys? Obviously they're more likely to die, but then there's no risk to my commander... I might have to ask in the Facebook group 🤔
Thanks for sharing more Barons War content! Great work. In the profiles for characters or warriors I would like to see the inherent abilities in a different text colour or with (IH) after them. So it’s quicker for a new person to know which abilities are different to an IH abilities.
Hi, I probably will not play this game but you made it's presentation very appealing. I may have to revisit this in some time. Thanks and Happy New Year.
Thank, I did actually do a video on my terrain a little while ago (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pK_V-0N7prw.html) but I've been busy making some more so it is probably time for another one!
Thank you! It's a great game with fantastic minis. I've seen a couple of other channels launch videos recently so hopefully the game will get more attention
