I saw you on the YouVersion Bible app this morning and found your channel here. Thank you for the message you are bringing others! Very insightful episode. I found your podcast as well so will follow you there.
Basically nothing has a finish line and always trust and praise In God as he gave you life and will continue to carry you through life as long as you trust him but you also need to have a relationship with God, not just hope that he’s there.
I "got saved" when I was 16, by myself in my mom's living room. I had no idea what was next. I'd watch Billy Graham crusades and tons of people got saved. No one ever said....Okay, now do this. We have altar calls and people all over turn their hearts over to Jesus. And we rejoice for them! Of course we do! But no one teaches them to follow Jesus!! I'm 70 years old now and have been searching since I was 16 for the "Now What? Oh my goodness, I think I finally found it!!
Thank you - I am interested in Christian scripture - but I do not know what Christians are talking about when they name “Jesus”. I gather that the name originally used in these scriptures was Joshua and that the name Jesus was of Greek origin. Any case I truly believe that Christian scripture says to follow the way of Jesus - not to believe in him - and that Jesus was essentially not religious - that it is about the living waters of the Spirit as spoken about in the parable of the well. That is why I found this video given that the speakers are talking about following the way of Jesus. But I don’t get this idea of devotion to this figure who was apparently a person who lived more than 2,000 years ago. I don’t think it is about following any particular person, whether Jesus, Gautama Buddha, Mohammed, and more, but is about embodying the teaching. I have my practices and find nuggets of truth in scripture.
The Bible speaks about Jesus being a person to follow and a way to reach God. Also that He is God and died and was raised from the dead. Lastly, that through the Holy Spirit (the third part of God) Jesus lives in the hearts of Christians as a physical presence. Jesus also said whoever believed in Him would have eternal life.
@@W0nderer Oh to each his own. For me I need the living faith as Jesus spoke about in the Parable by the Well. And in the words of Jesus when he says that we are the light of the world. For me much of scripture is allegory as Paul alludes to for at least one instance (Galatians 4:21-26).
"Western people just don't get". You're saying we're not as enlightened as nonWhites, because we don't express our spirituality the same. That Westernkind are spiritually inferior, because we don't practice annerexia in our faiths. That's disgustingly antiWhite.
Fasting has been practiced for centuries by many different cultures. Only our modern day Western culture rejects the concept. It's no wonder we have so many obese people waddling around...
I’m in my 60’s and I’ve spent a whole lot of time in church leadership making decisions from my natural mind and not in and through my new nature in Christ. There’s a pretty huge difference actually. Thank you for talking about that. I’m convinced that most churches are lead by well intentioned, good people who want to serve God well but at the same time don’t understand what being in the spirit is all about. I can speak to this because I was one of those leaders.
Reach back to Antiquity to take hold of a word (disciple) yet never consider the mindset/worldview of those who saw themselves and the world (both visible & invisible) considerably different from we moderns of the West. Call yourself a ‘disciple’ yet stay in your egalitarian post modern worldview and you get this silliness. Being mimetic includes embracing Christ’s Bride (His Church) and THAT should be the center of our lives. Get to Church and allow the mysteries therein to mold you, guide you, and draw you into a closer relationship with the Living God. It’s not about doing your own thing no matter how seemingly pious. It’s about offering back to God all of Life. Get to Church!
Love listening to these podcasts. I have been on this journey to abide in Jesus for 30 years, My husband and I are looking for like-minded people in the Seattle area to fellowship with - any leads would be appreciated!
Loved this conversation, especially the second half. It's crucial to reflect on how we want to navigate the prevailing culture, the psychological dictatorship of algorithms, and social constructs that seem bent on emptying the spirit and soul.
The second this video came on, I knew this goober was a priest, or whatever the hell his title is I could smell "pious scumbag" reeking through my phone LoL
I deactivated my Facebook a couple of months ago and haven't missed it. I deleted my Reddit account and don't miss it. I will still go there from time to time when I am looking for something specific but since I don't have an account it is more difficult for them to suck me in. For RU-vid I use a plugin called Unhook. It allows me to only see my subscriptions. I am able to block the algorithm. And for Instagram I block everything but the people I follow. I have to say, Instagram and RU-vid are really boring when I'm not seeing suggested content all the time.
As a father, the part where Andy was explaining the reality of modern kids having phones in their bedroom (1:08:30) trying to solve their peers deepest problems and the days past of kids walking out their door to find a parent to discuss problems had me so choked up.
John Mark I am so grateful for this conversation. It is a convergence of two worlds very dear to my heart-Practicing the Way and Praxis. What you two shared here is so deeply important to be heard and shared. Thank you! 🙌
