This channel is dedicated to my Hobbies of Amateur Radio, Audio, Solid-State & Computer Electronics. Making these videos aim to preserve digitally the obsolete, rare, and old consumer electronics before they vanish from the face of Earth as technology is advancing at a very fast pace.
Above all, this is my hobby and that is the reason I let the equipment speaks for itself rather than me speaking about it. Please subscribe to the channel as it will encourage me to make more videos regarding audio, electronics & telecommunication including radios, computers & HiFi equipment. Thanks a billion for watching much appreciated.
Get a Kenwood TS890S. I think you will like it better, and pay a lot less. Better yet, get both the Yaesu FTDX101D and the Kenwood TS-890S and still save some money.
@@spacetimeengineering It's our spring clean and reworking the shack. Putting stuff away and wrapping delinquent lengths of coax up from on the floor. Been combing the web for ideas on a new cock pit style desk. Dunno might just blow the dust away and go back to playing radio. Keep saying something like that on the desk would save so much room. Very nice enjoy 73
I have one of these that I bought in 1996 or 97. I think you're judging the sound quality based on what you can achieve now VS 1994 when these came out. I just dragged mine up from the basement to play around with in the garage. I'll need to replace the NiMH rechargeables in it but it works fine on AC. I don't have much use for something like this in 2024 but if, like me, you have a half dozen old iPods or an old iPhone with the 30 pin connector laying about it would be fun to have in a laundry room or something similar just for convenience to have sound folding clothes.

The decline of HIFI began in the 1980s. Things never worked out again. In the Netherlands where I live, the Philips HiFi was very poor. The sound from an alarm clock radio is better
Hahahaha but Philips invesnted CD Players & the Best TDA DAC chips used in audiophile CD players nowadays & also they made high-quality audio equipment under "Marantz" Branding too but I agree HiFi declined after 80s so sharply that it never recovered. Thanks for tunining in. Cheers
