@@tamagotalk Thank you very much for your reply! It is amazing that you made this video with no script😲 I'm always excited to listen to your podcast...Hope to find out more interesting things about you😊
I am a Japanese teacher who provided more than 4500 lessons on italki. It is amazing to be able to speak Japanese like that only for 3years. I noticed that the students who love Japanese games for several years can pronunce clearer and speak faster. If I can give an advice to you, your Japanese sounds a mixture of a couple of characters. Sometimes very casual, othertimes, very polite. Now you are speaking like very casual person, but I think you are much more intelligent person.
BTW "casual" doesn't have any negative nuance in English (like for example 雑 does). It also doesn't have an opposite meaning to "intelligent". If you say "casual person" in English most people would just imagine someone who doesn't like wearing suits or something. I think "rough" might fit the nuance you want here better.
First, I agree with you 100% regarding the language learning method that emphasizes input of natural conversation and expressions as you mentioned. But in reality, I have studied English that way for almost 20 years and ended up speaking very little. Some people, like you, may have been able to speak a second language just by immersing themselves in input, but I still think that is because they have a better than average talent for language acquisition. Unfortunately, most people do not learn to speak by input alone. Although input is definitely important, training in output is also important. And those who say that input alone is enough to learn to speak say that this is how children learn a language, but I think this is an argument that ignores the critical period theory of language.
Thanks for your comment! I think output is important too. That's why I started making these videos to practice more difficult topics! I do think that without the output practice it's hard to get things to come together smoothly. I was just trying to empathize the importance of input at the beginning. And I always push input quite hard because I think the overwhelming amount of language learners put too much focus on output in the beginning stages. So I think we are on the same page!
Most Japanese people don't know about methods like Refold/AJATT/Antimoon etc., so I think Japanese videos like yours are very valuable. I hope more people will know about it.
Hi Liam! Thank you for always great lessons !
