Hi, my name is Daniel and this is my repository of all that interests me including gear reviews, my 2021 Toyota 4Runner, outdoor/travel adventures, and random thoughts inspired by the people and things around me. I hope my videos encourage you on your journey and helpful in your next adventures. Enjoy!
Bro.. with plain, flat Ti slab scales and a standard production blade? Not even. It's heavy, it's clunky, it's plain. The new DGG or CC would get you much closer to the mark.
I like the Eklipse better than the xm18. If you just don't want a flipper there is non flipper Eklipse. I have one of those that was an E Knives exclusive. I have skinny, fatty all sorts of Hinderers probably 20 of them maybe more. I really like the Firetac too but they are rarely made. Its been like 2 years since I have seen them. The slicers now are hollow. I just got an Eklipse slicer a month or so ago. I already have slicers in the 3 inch and 3.5 didn't have an Eklipse slicer so figured that would be what I would buy since both it and the 3.5 were available at the same time. The xm24 is available too I might buy one of those since they still haven't sold out everywhere and the only xm24 I have is a bowie. I really like my xm18 auto too see they have an auto Eklipse as well now and they finally have them in battle black would like that to go with some of the other battle black models I have. Been a lot of titanium scales lately too just had a Monkey Edge MEFP working finish scale come in the mail last week. I have a few others sitting around I haven't installed too with the horsehead and the exclusive from DLT I have 3 for the 3.5, 2 for the Eklipse, and 1 for a 3 inch just never installed any of them. Oh I have one for my Project X too just a plain bronze.
I absolutely love blue in general. However, I feel like ironically the blue color is the one aspect of this particular watch that keeps it from being a one and done watch. I don’t think it goes with everything the way a white face or a blackface does. I will be bold and say, I hope Tudor comes out with something reminiscent of the Explorer II! (Polar please) 😅
I have and love all 3. Definitely need to experience the Holy Trinity if you're into the knife hobby. There are many other "heavy hitters" out there but the original big 3 is the best imo.
Love my hinderers, don't have one yet in S45VN but have a XM-24 hollow Slicer coming. Love S45VN in my other knives so anxious to see how hinderer treats there's? S45VN has quickly become a favorite of mine with its edge holding, ease of sharpening and the nasty sticky edge it takes with very little effort.
Aluminum is strong for its weight, great material. Essentially lighter titanium. That said I've dropped both aluminum and carbon fiber from two and a half feet (no this isn't a test that I do) and marked both. Lost a little ano on the aluminum, made a tiny little scuff on the carbon fiber. One day I'm cutting a ziptie at work, snap through, slap a steel grate with nearly a full force backhand. My hogue ritter's g10 scales took red paint off of the grate so I expected decent damage. Wiping off the red scuff revealed no visible damage at all, not a scratch even, and I gained a lot of respect for g10.
It’s holding up pretty well. I bumped the pocket clip against a chair or wall and scuffed up a little but nothing crazy. I’d say overall it’s durable enough but with any ano, over time with bumps and dings it’s gonna show. Gives it more character 😀
Fantastic looking knife. After watching your videos made me realize knives, after all, are just tools. Thanks to that, I started carrying and using a lot of my "safe queens."
Oh man that’s a tough choice. I prefer the Morpheus just because it has the perfect combination of action, acoustics, and visual aesthetics. I think Grimsmo’s craftmanship is unrivaled tho.
These knives are beautiful! I am wary of the idea of a "tough" holt due to having heard of lock failures. Otherwise really impressed with the thoughtful designs though
I was watching this and thinking man this guy needs a spartan harsey, then you pulled one out I have a bunch of Chris Reeve and Hinderer knives. Love them but the action on the spartan harsey is awesome. Looking at either a strider or a Koenig for my next purchase.
Is there authorized dealers for Striders? Because Ive asked around and I feel like the Strider community is hush hush and honesty Im scared to buy from ebay or trade in fear of getting a fake or something like that
That Ares he compared it to is over a grand right now. And the Oz Roosevelt he pulled out is about $850. These are high end custom pieces. You get those prices with quality like this.
