Well that was just crazy good! Amazing musicianship and an overall great sound makes this more than just a tribute to the great man, but a worthy contribution to y'alls musical identity on its own. The soulfulness of Saad's voice through the vocoder is to die for. And starting at 5:55, Rhodes and Vocoder know each other's licks so well and the way they make it fit is just pure funk. I know it's merely a matter of taste, I'd have gone with a much less thick snare sound (love the drums otherwise), and the guitar could be served with a sound that gives it a bit greater presence on the soundstage when playing along with the rest of the band (especially because when you do hear it, it absolutely kills!) Absolutely amazing, would recommend to everyone who loves a good groove.
Dear Saad El Garrab, WOW, what can I say!!! That was an amazing performance... The best cover version I have heard and in fact I think that you took your vocoder parts to another level which, I have to say, in my opinion, was even better than Herbie himself.... Wow WOW WOW!!!!! I need to ask you and I hope that you can help me. I love the mix of your sound of the vocoder. Please can you share with my with me what patch and keyboard you are using, and how you are processing the sound in terms of what efx you are using. I would really appreciate this very much. I hope you can help as I am training my 11 year old son at the moment on vocoder and I would really like to help him recreate your sound as he absolutely loves it so much (big hearts to you)...
Noice, the groove that makes the intro and the A section is an Afro Brazilian regional rhythm called Ijexá (sometimes also known as Afoxé). Really cool, first time I hear an English language Ijexá. The chord changes are real hip too, and its got a catchy chorus too!
Tu aurais dû gagner the voice ... Car tu est plus libre et ta voix est tout simplement envoutante, si féminine et fragile, si tendre et si nuancée ... Tu te met à nue à chaque passage. Ton "I love You" de B. Eillish m'a hypnoptisé, aussi ton titre "Le dernier jour du tapin" m'a touché au fond du coeur. Et pour te dire tout ça, j'ai de bonnes oreilles car je suis un saxophoniste chanteur de 60 ans !!! Grâce à ton âme et à ton pouvoir d'adoucir ce monde de brutes !!!
