Very impressive dont get me wrong but a rocket is far more than just its main structure, to me a rocket is reliant on so many other systems and components to fly (and land) properly! But full marks to Rocket Lab for pioneering this type of high tech construction - maybe have a use in orbital or lunal / Mars structures in the future?? :)
Whoa - that last one - WOWEEE! Mach Diamonds plus, nice blue color. Several of those other shots looked like good clean blue burn. What number engine are we up to now? Wasn't it #3 a couple weeks back? Have you gone for #4 or #5 yet?
When I had heard that a rocket similar to this was looked into by DARPA I knew PB was up to something special. Always a joy to see any news related to RKLB.
We don't need a bunch of chattery commentary and superfluous explanations of Max Q, MECO, etc. It's almost 2025 and everyone knows what those terms mean. We also don't need what sounds like a 12-year-old girl providing the info. Just let us hear the comms. Oh, and while I'm feeling grumpy, they really need to stop applauding themselves at the end of every program sequence. Are they surprised the vehicle makes each transition without disintegrating? Very unprofessional-sounding.
It's so awesome that everyone is building ox-rich staged combustion engines; now that the Soviet advancements have been uncovered, we aren't afraid to go for it!
They'll perfect travelling at high velocity in open space with this but they'll be so stupid they won't realize 10 generations later when they can travel 10 times faster than that... they won't even be able to get anywhere near the entire solar system with all that junk floating around that thing spews. They should think first.
You can see part of the flame burning a green color throughout the burn. When a rocket engine burns with a green color flame it traditionally means that some of the metal alloys are being burned away. With metal being burned away that means the engine is not acting in a stable state. Thus this engine still has needs more developmentally work on it before it can be a true stable and reliable rocket engine.
I have seen feul rich engines . Oxygen rich engines . Even full flow engine (raptor) . Every one hails it as staged combustion feul/oxidiser rich. But haven't seen anyone posting a video of engine running engine rich and then saying we don't build shit. You don't build shit because you are shit.
