Absolutely! I change my oil regularly. But I went to change the oil on it. Unfortunately the opposed twin on this Cub locked up because the oil fill spout popped off and oil went everywhere. Once I realized the fill spout was off it was too late.
Sorry I may not be much help there. You may have a different model than mine. I honestly dont know about every DR trimmer, or other brands on the market. Some have an engine brake that stops the whole machine, including the engine. In that case the pto belt would be under constant tension. Some have a bail bar that engages the string head by tensioning the belt when you hold it down. In that case engine has its own stop switch or lever.
UPDATE 10-12-23 this mower is now retired due to being expensive to operate and the SV710, engine using too much fuel took the engine out and put a kohler 17hp single Command it leaked oil like crazy and the deck started to cut terribly and deck due to one of the blades angles being higher than another deck was falling apart and wiring is deterioated because i did some work on the wiring it just became a money pit
UPDATE: The kohler engine in this video has had loss compression so i put a new engine a predator 670 from harbor freight Video link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wLXCc-FHEgU.html
WARNING ⚠ for those that dont know DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES run your generator indoors carbon monoxide will kill you people have been killed by this toxic gas!
UPDATE: I have replaced the k46 with a dana 5 speed transaxle Ive notice more torque and this new transmission pulled a gravely 8199 kt professional without a deck with a flat tire on the left side and it never missed a beat. I pulled 5 or 7 oak logs possibly 12 inch diameter 3.5 feet logs, it didnt realize it pulled those logs. I wish I had done this sooner. As always. Thanks for watching here is a video after the installment of the spicer transaxle check it out if you want to. UPDATE: May 1st 2023 the original hydrostatic transmission has been reinstalled back into the tractor. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YIs8m_w-Azw.html
UPDATE The Kohler engine on this mower was stalling unexpectedly under load or when you push the levers cone to find it was burning oil so I took the engine off then I took one of the heads off the pistons were wobbling severely and had severely heavy carbon build up so now I have to get the engine rebuilt. My grandfather and I took the engine apart and found the rings were worn then the valves were fine but they need to be lapped DO NOT GRIND STELLITE COATED VALVES ON ANY ENGINE! I plan to replace the lifters, coils, rings, spark plugs, gaskets, oil filter, etc.
Thank you! The Briggs and Stratton website mentioned that the QR code was the only method of looking up the model# for products made after 2012. Downloaded a QR scanner, scanned it, and I get "Page not found" from their website. Super freaking helpful for a product made in 2015. Was able to locate the model number location using your technique but the manufacture sure hides it well (need a strong flashlight).
Before you say anything negative please read this pinned comment. The governor is unhooked from the carburetor I am aware of that. And do not tell me not to use a Mitsubishi coil because its not oem Im trying to save myself Money and a Headache because it needs alot done to it. Gravely parts are not cheap there are aftermarket brands that are just as good if not better than oem parts. And I want to have a front end loader Box Blade and a Front Dozer blade and pull a bigger trailer and Mow the yard these gravely tractors are far superior to the mowers that you find at Lowes or Home Depot. Thanks for watching
DR trimmers don't have the same cable set up I found this video here I dont know if it will work on yours ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z0wvmhILrqo.html
Well what I mean is some people don't study their machine long enough and therefore talk trash about DR trimmers saying its the machines problem although in reality it has an issue related to the operator. Sometimes its not even their fault because they forgot about it because of excitement of their new machine. I wish DR would add a little booklet on how to adjust the cable.
Hi Willie, So happy and thankful you put this up. I fixed my DR trimmer so easily because of what you show here. And you made me laugh when you told the viewers that "it's not the machine's fault, it's YOUR fault."
Thanks for waking me up about the bottom adjustment for the belt. I use Oregon Gator line 155 on machine just like on your video. Cut 3 acres of Horehound weeds in Arizona. And several more acres here in Ozarks. This machine is a beast, and it's taken care of. But I never knew about the other adjustment. Thanks again.
I bought this same mower 2 months ago used.. I have mowed 10 customers yards and it's broken down 6 times now. I own a mowing business and tried like heck to get work done and this mower is costing me way too much money. First time costing me $600.00 more dollars, Now it will run for 3 minutes and die, won't start till it cools off. Have replaced the coils, plugs, spindles, pulleys, deck leveling block, Now about to change the ignition switch. Sure hoping this fixes it, sick of pumping more money and more money into it. Bought a new mower and trying to fix this one to sell it.
There could be a vapor lock in the fuel system causing it to do that where fuel is turning to air or it could need a valve adjustment where the Valves aren't adjusted properly try replacing the switch if that doesn't fix the problem then it may be a valve adjustment or a vapor lock in the fuel system. I hate putting too much money into a machine that I bought used or has either been given to me. If it gives you that much grief you should buy a new mower like you did.
@@JohannZ100 Yeah, I'm replacing the Starter/ignition switch tomorrow and see if that fixes it. The old one didn't look like it could be getting good flow through the contact for how dirty and bad it looked, so hope this works. Weirdest part is when it dies, It has very, very little spark on the spark tester and won't re start, almost not enough to fire again until it cools off, then it will start for another couple of minutes, then just dies.
