I create various mosaics murals and pavement works in the Byzantine style using materials such as natural stones, smalti, and gold glass using traditional techniques but also experimenting with other technical possibilities and forms of expression.
Even better, you could adapt an arbor press($100) with cut off chisel heads top and bottom($30-$40)... And if you prefer a large handwheel over the typical bar of an arbor press you could probably pick one up off eBay ($30-$50) and adapt it to your press. Thats a cost of only around $200, where the closest machine you could get a semi reasonable price is $900(with shipping) from China. Machines identical to yours Milan are selling around the $2000-$3000 mark. Just an idea for people coming across this video who cant afford the initial outlay of this machine.
Dear brother in Christ, is there a good site to buy supplies from? My daughter and I would like to try to do a mosaic of Saint Nina as a gift to a small monastery. Thank you and your channel is wonderful!
Where do you purchase your smalti? Do they sell small pizzas for small projects? Could I accomplish the same effect with pre-cut squares and rectangle tesserae? Thank you, so much for this demonstration-it is very inspiring. You do very beautiful work.
