Just a couple of average blue collars trying to go fast, learn more, and share with our friends and families along the way. So take a ride with us on this journey, just maybe we'll make a Whack-A-Do of you too!
Wow 289 rare for 68' reminds me of my 68' Torino fastback had an 200- inline 6. Everyone said they didn't make a 200 in the GT fastback had I must have said 50 times it's just a fastback and not a GT then I had to hear they didn't make just a standard Torino fastback 👺
Dude those mirrors are hideous. Be way better with some old school west coast style trucker mirrors than them funky things . But im also one that likes the orginal dumbo style mirrors
There's been lots of updates on on IG and TT. Long format video is a lot of work with very little reward so once Cody left the state and I had 1/3 help videoing/working/editing I've taken a break from the videos but not the work at all.
I totally agree, but it's hard to do the work, camera setup, and editing all as one person. 3 days of video and 8 hours of editing with $23 a month software gets 300 views but a 1 minute video on TikTok gets a half million views and doesn't become a hindrance to actually working on the cars sadly.
I ended up making inners. I ordered several sets of inners from LMC and they were all close but wrong so I cut them and spliced them together until it was close and then patched the sections that didn't fit up with 16g sheet steel patch panels.
If only your chev factory could have built something even half that beautiful aye boys… gm couldn’t seem to get away from right angles and straight lines.😂 very cool car girl 😎
Very interesting resto mod. You’ve turned something that could have been scrapped into a very useable driver. Congratulations. One quick question where do you get the roll cage from? I have a 69 GT6 undergoing a similar Resto.
When I got the car, the roll bar was already in it but I do see them pop up for sale occasionally on the "Modified Triumph Cars" group page on Facebook. I believe it's dimensionally the same as thr roll bar for the Spitty.
When I found them they were on Ebay precut and unbent so they were much cheaper than any I can find now but the seller no longer offers them. Trackspecmotorsports sells a universal version of them but the price is steep for what they are. I didn't have much trouble with install, but I intentionally avoided the under hood bracing to save myself the headache.
I know this is an older post but I would have carefully strip the back everything clean to the bare frame, salvaging as much as you can and starting over! That is just garbage work they have done and you don't want your name associated with it. And I would be questioning that frame extension! Just my 2 cents.
Eventually all of the sheet metal was removed other than the top skin and every weld under the truck was checked and either rewelded or extended along with gussets throughout the underside to tie the bed and frame together more entirely along with rewelding and gusseting the frame extensions before moving on to reskinning the exterior, adding work boxes to the sides, and adding the air bags. It was months of undoing the mess underneath while saving what I could. The first order of steel I put back under the bed was already $1,000 due to current material costs, so I had to salvage what I could.
@@WhackADoRacing he did a great job im working on a 1970 opel gt right now it will be a turbo v8 build and his spoiler is exactly what i have been looking for for mine
He worked on it for about a week to get it how he wanted it, but it was before we took any video. He used the same techniques a lot of people use when making fender flares where he laid on spray foam and shaped it,then fiberglass over the top and pull all the foam out. It really set off the look and it's one of our favorite parts as well
We've taken a bit of a break, after Cody and the Opel moved states it's been tough doing the work and filming but we've gotten a lot done since our last videos and look forward to an update
Oh man… GREAT idea in going with louvers! I just bought a 68 GT and already have the same scoop to put on it. I’m going follow your example and do the same. Having the hardest time finding wiring for making the blinkers work though.
We used a very low draw LED set of bulbs and tied into the front blinker light wiring for the signals. The key to it was making sure all the factory grounds were good but after that it was just tying in! If you need any more info feel free to reach out! 👍
After 87 is OBS, not squarebody. They made crew cabs but the parts interchangeability is 73-87 for many parts but even then it's hit or miss on interior parts.
Some of the 289 engine's were in some of the later cars in the model year due to a strike at the engine foundry were the 302 came from, so they used up some leftover 289's. A check of the vin number will show if this was an early or a late model year car.
I was thinking you could use that space for like portable gas station if someone need to be filled up like have a hose and stuff right there make a drawer where it comes out with a spool just an idea
i have a freind who owns a shop and he took a chevette diesel and its tranny and slapped it in a 62 spitfire just for the fun of it he wanted to see how many mpg,s the little diesel would get...oh yah he plumbed in a turbo from a vw 2.0 tdi with an air to air intercooler just for kicks....
We took a bit of a break from doing any video lately but there's been a TON of work done on the Fairlane! It's just getting better and has become a favorite of ours for cruising lately. Hopefully we'll do a full update soon!

Sorry, been kinda lying low lately and meaning to do a big update but it's been hard to get motivated. The ramper now has a motor swap, full interior, new ramps, and has been loaded for the first time in 4 years today! Big things comin. I'll make an update soon
That sounds like an absolute riot! What a great power plant for the project. I'm not very familiar with the engine packaging size of the BRZ motor but be mindful that the clearance to the end of the hood gets low in a hurry so shove everything as far back as possible and as soon as you can or as frequently as you can, toss the hood back on and check for fender and hood clearance. It gets super tight in there and you don't want to hack more than needed after it's all welded into it's new home
@@WhackADoRacing thank you! I will keep you posted on my progress. We will probably start work on this after Christmas. I will be back with more questions at that time.
There are very few classic cars/trucks that should never be "modified". The GT6 isn't one of them. Even if you were to mod. one of those few, I wouldn't hate on ya. I might rib ya a little but hey, we're Gearheads. I'd enjoy the craftsmanship and problem solving. Take a look at the insanity of some Bike Builds. They're not really all that Rideable but the craftsmanship is off the charts. That's why they're built that way. To showcase that craftsmanship. Don't know why people get their panties in a bunch.
I DID THE SAME TO PULL MY MOTOR FROM THE TOP. DROVE IT HARD FOR 38 YRS WENT THROUGH 3 MOTORS AND 3 TRANSMISSIONS I RECENTLY BOUGHT 3 MOTORS AND TRANSMISSION FROM THE JUNK YARD THREW 2 TIRES UNDERNEATH AND HAD THEM LIFT THE BODY OFF WITH A FORK LIFT
