Most residential areas, including the neighborhoods here, are class G airspace. Class G does not require authorization. However, any property we got close up shots of we had permission from the owners to show :)

In Illinois we have multiple governmental bodies, county, municipal, school districts, etc… that assess property taxes. Does the Kauai County tax rate cover all of these, or are there still separate taxes?
I agree about Kauai being the most beautiful but Big Island should be at least number 2: most geographically diverse of all the islands, it’s huge size helps to feed exploration and adventure, it is still quite beautiful, most affordable, less condos than Maui, amazing agriculture and farmers markets, black sand, green sand and white sand beaches, as well as rocky beaches for those who like cliff diving, amazing waterfalls, low population density, less touristy, plenty of great hiking, great local food
There's a big push nationwide to increase taxes on hotels and rentals in order to keep local residents' taxes low. I'm on the fence about that in general, but in the case of Kauai, I'm glad to see that the county is trying to make it more affordable for residents. There are more Hawaiians living on the mainland than in Hawaii because they've been priced out of home ownership. 😕
That sounds great but what is the median price of a home? How have they slowed down the number of houses being sold to people buying for a vacation/rental home?
Kauai established their vacation rental laws back in 2018...if a property didn't have short term rental rights then, it doesn't have them now. I made a video about it that you can probably find on my channel.
I don't understand why food reviewers that go to Kauai leave out some of the most important local food places on the island. You would have got a lot of street cred in you would have featured Hamura's
Thank you for posting this! We leave this Friday 8/2 for Kauai. I’m so excited, never did a big trip like this before. Some of the excursions are very very expensive. We are also looking for things to do on our own.

Yay! JoJo’s gets the perfect score! Love it there. Our fave used to be Kauai’s Best Shave Ice in front of Princeville Foodland but it’s not the same after it changed hands. We miss it! But we also miss the malasada lady in front of K-mart. And K-mart too now that I think about it. 😂😂

We’ve been watching your vids tonight, preparing for our seventh visit to Kauai next month. We keep commenting on how you know your stuff! You’ve highlighted so many of our favorites. Question though… We love snorkeling Anini and our past two trips we’ve tried to see turtles but have struck out every time. A guy told us to go past the park and park under the power line towards the end of the road that there were always turtles sleeping and hanging out on that part of the reef. We tried that with no luck. Any ideas about where to find them there?
Anini is a great place to see them in the morning. One the south side there's a snorkel spot next to the beach house restaurant that almost always has a few too.
When we planned our trip to Kauai to visit my parents there up in the Wailua Homesteads months in advance(6mo) we looked online for places to stay for two weeks between Christmas and new year’s from Poipu to Princeville, we found an Air B&B in the Princeville proper that was or is the cheapest of all places we looked and it was under $200 per day.
