My name is Erin and I am a printmaker and painter living in Nova Scotia, Canada! I want to share my art with you and also teach you how to make your own artworks!
Thank you for the video. I do have one area im still confused on. You said that the ink you use is oil based but water soluble. i always thought that water soluble inks are water based. Im interested in ink for fabric. what would be the best kind?
There are new inks that Speedball offers that are water soluable oil based inks! They wash off with soap and water - they are oil based inks but soap is enough to break down the type of oil in them so no need for harsh solvent chemicals! They perform nearly identically to regular oil based inks :)
@@ehollingsheadart Thank you so much for your reply. I already have some speedball water soluble ink, but im not sure if it will be good for fabric. is all water soluble ink ok for fabric?
Thank you so much for doing this excellent video, it covers everything a beginner like me needs to know about hand printing. It has helped me to see where I'm going wrong and how to improve. ❤⭐
It's definitely a "the more you do it, the better it will get" sort of thing, without a doubt!! Keep going :) I am working on a video for beginners as well
Hi, love your videos and find your artwork very beautiful. However I didn't catch what you said at the end about ?editioning? your prints? Or did you say something else? Also how long do the prints need to dry?
Hi!! Thanks so much for your questions. I did mention editioning prints! It will be my next video :) If I use water based ink, the prints dry within a couple of hours. If I use oil based ink, it takes weeks (about a month) for the ink to dry!
I like the glass because it is a smooth, flat surface that won't absorb any ink! Makes it easy to coat the brayer (roller) evenly and consistently. Easy to clean and reusable forever :) I just took the glass out of a picture frame I got from the thrift store!
Hello :) Super nice video. Thanks. Can you give a little inside to me, what pen you did use to make the hole block black. I am new to linocut and would appreciate any kind of help. Thanks :)
Thanks for this detailed description. So many useful tips. I don't know why I didn't think of the "take a careful peak and re-ink" thing. I will definitely try that next time; might save me from having to do like 20 prints to get one I'm happy with!
Thanks for the video! Been drawing my designs for the past few weeks and have my beginners kit and paper arriving today! Definitely going to be using these techniques you've shown here, thanks!
Thank you so much for this very detailed video..i want to start lino printing and i wanted to purchase these blades but worried a bit since they are quite spendy. I will be getting these now 😊
wow i was watching this to get a good idea of sizes for my own linocuts and realized right at the end of the video that i have bought from you before on etsy! i gave your selkies print to a friend as a housewarming gift (she loved it). hi from texas!!
Hi, really good video on how you work. Can you please put a link or write the name of the marker u uses to cover areas so that u can see what u are carving?
This brought back so many good memories from a printmaking class I took in college. (That wonderful ink roller sound 😍) I’m thinking of jumping back into printing and this was the perfect re-introduction! Thank you!
