I think the parents were brave protecting the young. One of them even did a lethal blow to the predator, but unfortunately the predator had its talons firmly in the baby and had to wait for gravity to do its thing. I wonder what happened after both predator and baby fell from the nest and parent went after it. Both parents flew so fast it was hard to see even at the slowest speed. 😢
Poor Xavier, lost out! He looked amazed that a full Diamond would take his meal, lol. Just love these 2, out of all the nests I watch, these are my favorites by far. Such love!
Did the Osprey mother just go back to sleep while it's baby was being killed? I don't know much about birds, so I'm not sure if that was the mother or what, just curious.
@Stellvia Hoenheim ... what! Did you never see Alfred Hitchcock's the birds or talkin roosters? ''You must be standing in a hole boy. Everything I say goes Zoom, right over your head.” Foghorn Leghorn
That is a Red Shoulderd Hawk. It's load call is the give away. No other hawk makes that sound. Red tails are larger and their attacks are more formidable. That aside, very nice capture of the attack and excellent footage! Great job. For a moment I thought I was watching NOVA. 😁
