Awww. You didn't get to ride last year? Well, maybe you didn't miss out on as much as you think. The lifts were often closed so often because of the wind and snow, it felt like we could hardly ski it.
Hi. How many gondola rides are out there at Mammoth lakes? We booked one via the Mammoth mountain website and believe the ride will take to the top of the mountain. This view is amazing though. Great video.
Thanks. Sorry that I missed your comment. There are two at Mammoth. One that takes you from the Village to one of the base lodges... That this video. It's free and you don't have to book it. The other one goes from Main lodge that starts a couple of miles up a road from Village at Main lodge. It goes to the top. Did you go?
Wow. I'm amazed you caught that in the split second that it went by. I knew Thunder Unbound chair crossed under the Gondie, but never noticed that it shared a tower!
OMG... I just had the trippiest thing happen. I opened Google on my phone to do a search. On top of the news and human interest articles, below the search bar, was a screenshot that I recognized from one of my videos. IT TURNED OUT TO BE AN ARTICLE IN POWDER! MAGAZINE FEATURING MY VIDEO! WHAT?!?! 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you, Matt Lorelli!
Hi! I'm a new channel and if you like to see some of the crazy things I capture while skiing the slopes, I love sharing them. Hope to see you around and I love interacting with you in the comments.
The view heading UP the mountain is even more spectacular, especially with a 360 degree view out the windows. Check that video out using a Chrome browser, RU-vid App, or a VR headset here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cp_ZWre7vCQ.html
Greate video. Thanks for posting. Its like a thick layer of whipped cream was dropped on the town, then swirled. I saw this several times and enjoyed, but couldn't get a picture myself. Best part IMO starts at 2:00. Other good spots 2:42, 4:10, 5:36.
Is it possible to ride the gondola without being a skier or skateboarder? I'd like to ride it for the views, grab a bite to eat at the top, and then come back down. I'll be driving US-395 next month (April).
Absolutely! The gondola from the Village is completely free and doesn't require a ticket. Just jump on any time it's open. It's effectively a courtesy shuttle.
The 11K Gondola from Main lodge to the summit is a different story. There is a sightseeing ticket, I imagine is around $80, that offers amazing views of the Eastern Sierras and an interpretive center. No skis or other equipment required as you can ride it back down to the main lodge
@@erindunebuggy9772 wouldn’t spend money in comifornia if you put a gun to my head. Rather go ski in Utah with the Jesus freaks. Snow is better there anyway.
The views are stunning truly a once in a lifetime winter in the mountains in that area this winter will go in the record books it will be the winter that all other winters will be gaged against God Bless stay safe and please more videos
It brings people from the Village to the Canyon lodge. That way people staying at the Westin or the Village can just ride up straight to the slopes. It's also a great alternative parking area across from the Village. A lot of people use it to to go lunch from the slopes instead of the cafeterias on the mountain as well.
Unfortunately, all that beauty is about to become a muddy torrent river. I pray fot you all with the ice dams leaks that are coming and the flooding in the basement that are on the way. That is great ride to be able to go from the upper hill area to the center of town or I guess the shopping center mall area then you can catch it back up. Much better than a bus
I am surprised that they actually have parts of the lifts going over residential buildings. Or should I say that they allowed them to build directly under them.
@@deebeeeff It's pretty quite... especially since it's 30'+ above the ground. Though it's not like it's absolutely silent. I imagine if would have lived there pre-gondola days I probably would not have been too happy to have that running over my house / property. It does shut down at 5:00 or so so it's not like it is running all night.
@@deebeeeff It can hardly be heard from below. The noise what it's like inside the cabin, particularly as it passes each tower and rides over the sheave wheel train.
I was there on the first week. We got 90 inches on the 4th and then another 40 inches on the 6th. And then on the 8th we got a standing ovation of another 5 feet. They closed the main Lodge twice before we left
