What a magnificent song and an amazing solo. Oldfield's astounding contribution to rock and progressive rock music is terribly underrated. He brought a melodic plus value to rock which virtually nobody else did.
Even in an " average effort for a song ", his guitar solos are absolutely mesmerizing. What an artist! What a genius musician. Soooo underrated. He is retired now and we shall never again hear the like of him.
He ruined it with this mix. The 1976 mix is by far the best, even better than the 1975 original. The organ is the prominent theme (as he shows in the demo recording) and the electric guitar decorative, and here he almost faded the organ out entirely so the incredible polyphony is lost. As much as I love him, Oldfield really lost the plot with the 2010s remixes and needs to return to the 1976 Boxex mixes urgently.
I was on Hergest Ridge hill 10 days ago. It's a besutiful peacefull place with sheep etc. The outlook is stunning. Congrats to your 71st birthday, Mike
I can barely think of him passing, his music has been such a profound influence in my life, but when he does go I bet it won’t make the msn. He’s always been on the fringe and has largely been forgotten by many. His height was probably about 1980-3, when he was on a few TV programmes.
Das ist es, definitiv. Und wenn man auf dem gleichnamigen Hügel an der Grenze Wales-England steht, versteht man auch die (meist) friedliche Stimmung des Albums!
This should be called the "ruined" version rather than "remastered". Please bring back the 1976 version refined to its absolute hight 2 years after the original.
It is THIS …. and DIANA LUNA LUCINA that I will grip between my teeth as I swim to that Desert Island ….. and if there is room OMMADAWN WONDERFUL LAND DEEP DEEP SOUND (FMO 82)
Una de las mejores canciones de este genial músico. Un tema con tintes góticos, románticos, futuristas. La música a través de un vehículo llamado Mike Oldfield.
I agree he did a lot of good albums in the early 80s. People are generally snowed in about tubular bells I think. Taurus 2 is he's best instrumental work in my opinion
@@larslindqvist1320 Taurus 2 is great. Highlights for me are many but first 5 albums up to Platinum were probably his best. QE2 to Islands all superb. Hit and miss after that imo
