I am just a woman who loves to embrace every part of me. I am inspired daily by my faith, my husband, my children, and life. I want to share some inspiration here through my creativity, love for fashion, and all things glam in hopes that it inspires someone else.
Love the video! I watched to learn how to make that amazing ruffle hem! For anyone who might be a bit confused by the ruffle hem pattern, this is an alternative description: If you measure the whole skirt hem (front and back) then you just divide that measurement by 4 instead of 2 to mark the top line of the rectangle, then the side line is just however long you want your ruffle to be. Then you have a rectangle on your paper and you divide it into three from the top line down. (I am a much bigger girl so I divided mine into 6 strips) then you cut out the rectangle. Then you cut your strips from the bottom up to the top(the 1/4hem measurement) but don't cut all the way through so you can spread out the strips to create this kind of half circle shape that she draws on the fabric (which is folded in half vertically and then in half horizontally). Hope that helps!!!
"Even if you're not in a 'creative field,' you can still... literally discover the creativity inside of you within the field that you're in." Well said. I've heard variations on this message throughout my little collection of decades, but it's always fresh.
My take-away: While it can be helpful to have learned oodles of [motions] in an artistic field, it is most important to learn the motions necessary to achieve one's own vision. (Or in broader terms, it's more important to learn how to learn than to learn a list of facts.) Having no desire to stuff people into elegant fabric boxes does not make me less valid as a designer, it just means that I'll only be able to sell to those who love whimsical flowing garments --as long as that's actually what i'm doing, not satisfying myself with calling an experiment a masterpiece.
Thank you for your feedback! I am excited about this new series because I believe it will help a lot of people not only learn fashion design but also grow in their creativity. This is going to be a fun journey for all that join.❤
I get emails about mentorship a lot and I believe that yes, I am being led to shift my content into teaching beyond just showing my sewing projects. I want to create teaching/mentorship content really breaking down the overall journey of learning fashion, discovering your creative aesthetic, establishing a fashion brand, and everything that comes along with teaching yourself fashion, building a fashion brand, and being confident in your creativity. I will be publishing my first learning style teaching soon. I would really like feedback on the new content. I am going to share everything about everything. I have literally been a one woman show from the very beginning and I have taught myself a lot that I believe I can truly help others build smart with little. I taught myself not just how to sew, but pattern making, digital pattern making, digital fashion, fashion illustration, website development, managing the business side of fashion, creating logos, branding, etc. The information I have taught myself is not meant to just be for me. It is time I share it with others. Eventually, I will do more personal-style mentoring. I am in a season of personal transition, so I can't put 100% into personal-style mentorship. But, I still want to give and help how I can. Lookout for the change. XO Ty
Thanks so much for your support! I had to prioritize my overall health and let some things go for a season. Loss, covid, and life happened and I would attempt to record content but I didn't like how stressful it was becoming so I sat still with it for a while to get clarity, health, and find balance. I finally have a sense of freedom and peace to create. I want people to experience a healthy me and not a forced phony. ❤
Hot dog style is folding it where the two longest sides meet along the vertical grainline. Hamburger style is the opposite, folding it where the two shortest sides meet along the horizontal grainline.
This is wonderful. I am busy making the skirt right now. I have never sew any garment in my life. I did the cutting of the fabric and I'm going to sew the sides together now. I use a different fabric which needs a zip but it is easy to ajust to that thanks to you. You make it look easy to do it especially the flair. I can't wait to start making it. Thank you so much for making my learning so easy and understandable. This is so exciting!
Hi dear i was trying to draft this for a 7year old and when i droped from F 2"down the shoulder sloped droped way down. I love this drafting method very clear very detail.❤ Is it possible to make a basic bodice tutorial for 7 to 16 year old? Thank you for this tutorial God bless you.
Everyone has a different style of learning. It is very important to find what works for you. You didn't give any specifics, so I'm guessing my overall style just may not work for you and that's ok. When you figure out your style of learning, it will definitely come easy. Good luck ❤️
I want to like to have friends that are girls that girls to wear that skirt and dress outfit and I want to like your skirt and dress outfit and I want to like this video
They are such a classic and still loved today. Classic fashion just recycles; it never truly ends. A lot of things worn today has already been worn. Fashion is about making clothing your own piece of art. Do you still wear them today or do you leave the trend to the youngins?
Thank you for making this video! I love your binder with the different help tips, and views of different garment tops. Can you share the Content material that is in the binder and How do you have the binder organized?
Ty Kent. To be honest, fashion wasn't something I really thought about doing growing up. It all started with 1 idea that felt like it dropped into my head, and from there it snowballed into the direction I'm now thinking about. It's an insanely cool idea and I'm floored it hasn't been thought of... Until now, that is 😁 Well, sometime last yr but I've been on a spiritual journey and it wasn't time. I know that this is what I meant to do. I know it is. It's not an in the head feeling, It's a soul/energy feeling and a strong one. Everyone has a soul purpose in life... Whether everyone figures it out, or not, is another story. Not only do I want something to do with fashion but I also want to make a difference in the world, and I feel fashion would be the catalyst for it happening. So when it comes to even where to begin, what to do, etc.... I have no clue. I'm strickly following my intuition/gut instinct with this one. When I seen this video i had a feeling about writting something about a mentor. I didn't know why and I didn't question it... I just did it. I've never done something like this before... but I went with what my Intuition screamed for me to do and now here I am... replying to you 🙏 I truly just don't know the first thing about where to start, or how to go about it. But I do know that this is my path. I can't move cities to go to fashion school, so I do have to attend the University of RU-vid. Guidance. I need guidance and lots of it. All I have is me, my kids and my trillion dollar idea 😉 and I need to make it come to life ❤🥰
@@TyKent Its hard to tell yourself what to do when you don't even know where to begin. I'd love to avoid as many mistakes as possible and to be guided in the right and correct direction. To learn through someone else's experience. Test them, guide them, or push them to be the best. All of that's so hard to do when it's just 1 person trying to figure it out. To have that kind of support, would be so incredibly helpful
@@Kdubs13 I'm working on creating more educational content that will help you with those concerns. Email me at ty_kent@outlook.com anytime. If I can help, I will to the best of my ability. If I can't but know resources that can, I will recommebd them. ❤
