Interesting. I have 6 of the wavians and want to continue adding to my fuel storage. I considered these, but I figured it’s a no-brainer why they’re less than half the price without the locking cam lid. Definite weak point is the plastic lid with pressure build up. However, using my wavians for vehicle transport and having an air conditioned garage in which these would be stored with limited abuse, I may be able to make these work. Have you found the added lids to be durable and not allow any fumes to escape?
"Wavian" is a VALPRO branded product, just as these cans are. Note the UN certification stamp on the middle handle. These cans are VALPRO (the NATO jerry can manufacturer) and the only difference is the round bung with no vent vs the NATO cam bung with vent.
Thank you for this, and I am considering this setup. I see that Carli requires the end links, track bar drop, and bump stop drop in addition to the coils. Is everything working fine without those?
I installed the Thuren track bar drop and end links as part of my original lift, but it worked fine with the stock bump stops. Later I added Timbren Sumo Springs which are great for trailering with this setup.
Thank you for the additional info. I’m assuming your doing conventional towing and not a gooseneck. Im surprised you would need Sumo Springs with Carli claiming the coils maintain factory payload. Do you think they are actually softer than factory?
I have a genuine question about your shock choice; wouldnt you get the same result with the fox 2.0 as you did with the king 3.0 with stage 2 tuning? Im asking cause i thought about doing that because the shocks look great especially with the res…but spending almost twice the price to look cool doesnt seem like a smart idea lol. Im being serious tho, is there actually a difference having larger shocks with low valving or should i just save money and get the fox shocks?
I have had two of these Midwest / Valpro cans for the past three years and I have found that they are very well-made. I did have leaking problems with the CARB spouts, and recently, one of the caps did split. I just purchased the grey caps and I am going to use them in conjuction with non-CARB spouts. These have been hovering at around the $45.00 until recently at my local HF. I just checked and they are now up to $59.95. I am not surprized at all because of the war in Ukraine. Currently, Waivian cans are going for $89.99 on their website with an included spout and free shipping. Not too bad.
I can tell watching this video that you hit a snag I’m currently experiencing w/the corner piece… My wife & I are really having trouble getting the “front corner” to snap fully in/seated. Any tips or tricks you can recall?
I used ratched straps to pull the corners into place and it worked like a charm. I wove two of the straps up through the slots in the floor then up over the top of the wall....then I cranked the ratchets until the wall clicked into the floor.
Great video just got this shed. I’m a little short handed, can one reasonably handy old guy put it together? I’m thinking some clamps and saw horses and a whole day.
I have the Harbor Freight one on the back of my work van. When I pulled the cap off of the can to use the fuel the rubber cap gasket was deteriorated and leaked when fuel splashed while driving. The can was in the vehicle for 4 months before I used it. Those caps are freaking junk and would benefit greatly from a quality cap alternative.
Your video was super helpful for me! Never been a huge fan of going super soft on the rear of any HD truck and you really helped me iron out my build for my '22 2500 CTD. Don't do enough of the sort of wheeling anymore to justify kings again on this one, but ended up going Thuren 2.75" w/Thuren Fox 2.0 Resi upfront and Carli R2 w/Carli Backcountry Fox 2.0 Resi outback after talking to the guys at CJC. Mostly highway with some gravel and then the occasional camping trip so just couldn't pull the trigger on the Kings this go around. I also have a DiamondBack HD, quite a few tools, and I need to tow now and again. Going to run black sumos upfront for bottom out support (Thuren sells them in place of their full boogy bumps on 19+) and blue sumos out back when empty swapping to black sumos when towing or hauling heavy things on top of the cover (Done this before on other trucks with great success). Got all the other goodies (Trackbars, etc) with them on the way and really looking forward to softening up this big girl for my longer highway trips, the gravel roads I've got to travel from time to time, and towing now and again while keeping the truck a functional 3/4 ton. Your stance ended up perfect!
Hi Justin, I'm currently at work so can't watch your video with audio on, so forgive me if this was answered already, but, are you running Carli R2 rear coils, with King 2.5 tuned shocks from THUREN? If so, how is the ride??? Since they're tuned for their coils. I currently have a 2021 Power Wagon, 1.5" front lift with overland shocks and trackbar, those front coils are equivalent to the diesel 2" front coils, same part number. The rear I am running the Thuren STOCK HEIGHT rear coils soft rate, which is equivalent to your 1" rear coils for the diesel. On the power wagon it doesn't give me added height I guess. Also have overland rear shocks and track bar. I added about 500 lbs of constant weight with a pop top camper, rigd, and full 37" spare. So, now like you, I want to get R2 rear coils. But my dilemma is, how will it run with the rear overland shocks from thuren? And, if I need to change the shocks, who do I run? If going Carli, they don't sell just the rears, have to buy a full set and I don't want to change out to Carli front when I already have a full Thuren front setup invested. That is why I was asking if you're running King 2.5" rears from Thuren, how are you liking that shock tune for a thuren coil, but with a Carli R2 rear coil instead? And what level of tune did you get for the rear King 2.5???
Yes, I'm running the Carli 2" lift rears with Thuren King 2.5" and think it's a great combo! I got Thuren stage 2 tuning on the King shocks. Also, I'd suggest giving CJC off-road a call or email about your setut, they are the ones that recommended going this route.
Interesting i called carli and they said the r2 won’t work since i only have a king 2.5 in the front and stock height in the back even if i have a camper that weigh about 1.000 and squad once i tow my trailer with a hitch weigh of 300 and I can’t find any information you are the only one that has done a video on a leveling kit
Two MidWest Jerry Cans (tractor supply) and one set of Gray Caps have been ordered ! Q: Does the nozzle fit inside the can when using the gray caps? i,e does it close AND do they catch enough threads ? Thanks for sharing !
Just bought this shed the panel by the front door is covering the bushing for the pole for it to swing. Where did you put your brushing for the front door? Where the holes aren’t attached to the inserts for the walls or where it isn’t connected to the inserts where it is a free hole? Been working on this thing for days
