Hi, i just found your channel thanks to the algorithm. I was lucky enough to run this at Free Rpg Day and I agree with you. This is a fantastic adventure. I've since run it a few more sessions, as written with the timer mechanic, and as an open adventure. I highly recommend both! I'm looking to run Treasures From the Deep soon! I would love a video on that! Thanks!
Running this as a LTP at GenCon I see taking a 15 min in game rest (with a sort break if the players want) as balancing out the difference between IRL time vs game time for combant
It works really nicely in a faced paced two hour competitive environment. Gives come time to strategise and others a chance to break and switch off for a short amount of time. It worked really well at the UKGE 🥳
Great review of the module, was a bit sad i didn't get to pick it up during free RPG day but with this i'm now excited to do so when it gets publicly released, also hadn't considered the possibility of running games in a "competition" setting like that and i'm now itching to do so, great video, would recommend to up your volume though as it was pretty low on this one, but hoping to see more!
Thanks for the comment and feedback. I am hoping the audio will be better soon, looking into some solutions. This is a scenario I run on a fairly regular basis, so if ever your free hit me up on Discord and I’ll add you to a game 😎 as far as the comp setting goes, I am trying to put something together for Contingency 2025 a UK based convention next Jan.
Your video is fantastically structured and very helpful. I hope you’ll continue to do this with the other Alien RPG scenarios - because of that I have just subscribed to your channel 😊. I would also love to see you doing the same with Call of Cthulhu Horror on the Orient Express or anything from that RPG. Anyway, very well done. Thanks a lot for your work on this.
Thanks so much for the feedback, I do plan on creating more Aliens content including scenario help as well as other RPG content. I appreciate you subscribing :-)
Hello, thank you for the video. I suscribe to your channel, i hope you can make more videos, like destroyer of worlds, or the mini storys like "infernos's fall :)
Hi thanks for subscribing! I will be talking about the novel tie in scenarios in the near future and as well as destroyer and heart of darkness 😊 I hope you enjoy them when they’re published 👍🏻
I am going to run this at some cons this year. I was going to do this but you saved me at lot of work. Thank you. You had some really good ideas and perspective on this module. Also what I do is making the spacesuits they have being old and crusty so they are leaking so they will run out of air quicker. Or that the ship are hit by micro meteriorites and that it punctures the suits so it's more or less impossible to detect or fix. Having them running out of air adds alot of stress and strain. Also the horror of breathing contaminated air. They are then Also more pressured to take the vaccine.
Thanks! That's a great point with the space suits, let the walls shrink around the players and give them decisions to make ie find new suits, air scrubbers, vaccine.
@@GMRUNSGAMEWe are thinking much alike. And what if several/all of them rum out of air and they only find 1 new suit/Airsupply. That will garner more conflict or ill will amongst the players or it will at least generate a moral dilemma. Who gets the suit. Or that they find several suits and when they put them on they learn that inside the suit there are spore sacs. Do you have the unknown hostile droid among the crew or do you leave it out? I am not sure how I will have people doing secret things . Having the players sending me notes or text messages can easily become destracting and hard to manage. It tends also to get people to meta because they can see that something iffy is going on.
I would have a couple of space suit / EEV complications and use them as and when you feel it needs it. To one shot COTG you have to be selective and keep the pace, that being said I can think of a few examples when this would help with the pace. I have always run with Lucas (the synthetic) included. Having run this a few times at conventions the folded paper method of communication worked well - just make sure you don't have a tell :)
