Hi, Jill! Usually my wings and hood were splashed with oil when the oil seal or propeller hub was damaged 😁. Oil also leaked very often from under the valve covers on the cylinders.| In general, this engine never let me get bored. There was always oil leaking somewhere. With our flight hours this is about 350-400 hours from May to September

Reliable compressor, only drives enough oil into the air system. In my experience, there was only one case when the compression rings and piston collapsed. If there was any problem, cleaning and lapping the valves helped. Especially the exhaust valve, deposits from oil and corrosion products from water accumulated there.

Hello, Jill. It's Andrei. Magnetos, this is the thing that causes about 90% of all problems with this engine. 😁

Thanks for sharing Jill! It looks like a good time was had by all. I liked the Rosie the Riveter tail art. My grandmother bucked rivets on Curtiss-Wright SB2C Helldivers in Columbus Ohio during WWII. Her name was Elizabeth so they called her “Betty the Bucker”.
