I am a Dutch fly fisherman and fishing makes me happy, simple as that. I started this hobby few years ago and had the luck of being "adopted" by a group of skilled and experienced fly fisherman. That certainly improved the skill and joy of this hobby. For me fly fishing is 3 in 1, meaning: 1- catch fish 2- tying your own flies 3- being in beautiful nature I learned tying my own flies at a fly fishing club called "the Meivlieg". That provide me a tremendous boost of creating my own flies. I hope you will enjoy the videos! Please subscribe or react.
I think I was using the Hanak Bite Tricolour Indicator. However today I changed to as light as possible, meaning a .16 mm leader normal monofilment sized 2 or 3 times the rod length to the fly line and a dropper with a figure of 8 knot with a peace of 50 cm size .12 mm to the point fly. I color the line by using orange wax. Main advantage; casting becomes super easy, especially over a longer distance. By using heavier sighter or indicator the leader will come back to the rod due to its weight. May be I will make a seperate video about this topic. I understand that the explanation is not that clear.
glad ye enjoyed it lads i could hear the wind on the mics, its the biggest challenge her on my home waters , you rig up and just as your about to cast the fly the wind kicks up and you have to adapt the rig , but as you say the scenery makes it all worth it , i guess thats why its called fishing and not catching .
We had a great time and a super guide. We fell in love with Ireland. The fishing is also diversified, meaning; different lakes and rivers on beautiful locations.
Cheers
Hilarious. Fishing the fly in coloured water like that. Casting down stream 😞. As I have said before the German fishing licence means nothing I always say that any visiting anglers from Germany should be made to pass an English Fischer prufung specifically made for them Before we let them loose on our waters
@@peterv1204 overheen gelezen zeker.
nice to see others that also dosent limit thier flyfishing to just trout, i fish a lot for perch, pike and whitefish with the flies and is a good alternetive when trout are slow or its to hot for them and also my 7ft 3wt scierra pico get some exercise😁
Ive fly fished the brilliant waters around Clifden in Connemara for truly wild a beautiful trout - unbelievable sport but my overriding memory is of the midges that would absolutely eat the face and neck off you and probably take an entire arm off if it was exposed 😂
Wonderful to see you enjoying the wide range of trout fishing in Connemara, Many of those lakes I know well and the trout might be small but they rise easily enough - looks like you had a good time and weather fairly kind to you. Agree with other comment - wet your hands before handling any trout, don't swing them around, don't photograph them lying on grass, sand, rocks only in your wet hands or wet net, and release them carefully. That way, when you return to Connemara they'll still be there and, hopefully, a little bigger too. Tight lines!
@@flyfishingmakesmehappy9770 You need to hire a guide to show you how to release properly & gently without damaging or stressing the fish. Like the catching, the skill of releasing also needs to be learned properly. All the best!
