Point 6 Acre is located on a beautiful Gulf Island in British Columbia, Canada.
Point 6 Acre is exactly that - .6 acre. This small farm of gardens, grape vines, prolific blackberry bushes, five chickens, three ducks, a trio of rabbits, and two goats, produces delicious food products and goat milk soaps.
I hope you enjoy these little snapshots of life on a small farm!

Always! I make up conversations of what I think they might be saying! Wouldn't that be something? Some philosophical conversation about the vagaries of Dawg, perhaps? !
Iris is a breed of goat called La Mancha. They have ears, they are very small. They are the only dairy breed of goat developed in North America. All the other dairy breeds come from somewhere else.
I have never been interested in landscaping water features, but I feel moved to make a pond for this whole crew! (It’s wild- my brain is lining up all of the probable steps involved… lots of knowledge gaps but I am loving it 😍)
I grappled with this problem for many years. The ducks have a seasonal pond during the fall/winter months but make do with the kiddie pools during the hot, dry summer. Pond liners, duck droppings, filters, pumps, it gets way too complicated. Believe me, I've pondered this forever!
@@point6acre There’s a man-made pond in the village my family vacations at, but I think that in part it serves to offset the parts of the local water table displaced by the roads. It’s in a marsh- beach area, so while it isn’t a fully natural body of water, I think it might be partly stream-fed… but everyone still just calls it “the pond” or “the duck pond” 🤷♀️
There are two pools, albeit kiddie pools for the ducks during the summer. Point 6 Acre is on a well and the water gets changed every day for the small pool in the enclosure and every other day for the pool outside. It's the best option during the hot, dry summer. The ducks are happy. Not to worry!
I just took a Quick Look bc I’m busy but your set up looks nice and I love your duck n the goats are so cute following youuu your lucky having that landdd🫶🏻I’ll definitely have to watch this again to check it all out not distracted
I'm sad saying unfortunately Clarence was killed by eagles Sunday evening. It was a horrible shock which affected all of us, not the least Dawg. He was very upset. The best we can do is introduce Soupy and regain a sense of normalcy for Farrah and Flo. The seven ducklings are growing in leaps and bounds and will also produce a sense of curiosity for the older ducks as they are gradually introduced. That being said, ducks and chickens are in lock-down for at least another week for their safety while adult eagles and other raptors teach their young to feed. Thanks for reaching out and asking!
@@point6acre I am so very sad and sorry for your loss. I know the feeling as I've had one killed by a hawk years ago. Poor Dawg. I hope he recovers soon as well as the girls. I log in every day to get my daily "fix" of the ducks coming out of their little house. I hope that Soupy settles in well and the girls warm up to him very soon. ❤🦆
Ihre Ohren wurden nicht abgeschnitten. Sie werden mit sehr kleinen Ohren geboren. Es handelt sich um eine Rasse namens La Mancha. Es wurde keine Grausamkeit begangen.
I have these ducks for eggs. Hatched seven ducklings and will add the hens to the flock when they're bigger. Will sell any drakes. Ducks are wonderful creatures!
