This is a joke, and I strongly disagree with the “Not Scientific” portion of this video, and it’s interesting to see how doctors feel so threatened by “Dr. Google”. For starters, Google is loaded with scientific research, the latest studies and literature, and unfortunately, people turn to Google, because they aren’t getting any answers or help from their local doctors, dentists, neurologists, etc., and so we are left but with no choice to become our own advocates and turn to Google or RU-vid (i hope you see the irony in this, btw, as this video is on RU-vid). This is something that needs to be acknowledged. Perhaps you should Google the Mom who had a son with a rare condition and saw 17 doctors, and not one of those doctors could figure out her son’s medical condition, so she turned to Chat GBT, which actually diagnosed her son’s condition. Not to mention that scientific evidence changes all the time, and is not the same as scientific laws. Furthermore, anecdotal reports may not be based in “science”, but seeing what other conditions people have and how they have handled them on their own has been very helpful to some. Perhaps you should RU-vid Hugh Spencer and how he and many others cured their trigeminal neuralgia. This is how information and awareness is spread. You do need to be careful with this, but to be dismissive of of it goes against everything you preach about critical thinking. Also, OFP Specialists not only need to stop changing the terminology of these conditions, as it only confuses the professionals and patients, but they also need to somehow invest and come up with new medications that don’t provide awful side effects, dependency, and tolerance withdrawals (Tegretol, and benzodiazepines, for example). Finally, dentists and oral surgeons are causing a lot of these debilitating conditions, yet they not only have no clue how to treat these condition, but they take ZERO accountability for destroying people’s lives. And Dr Klasser, you have nothing against big pharma? Yeah, you really lost the me there. Are you even aware that Prizer has a criminal record that they’ve even pleaded guilty to?! Good grief. This is why Orofacial Pain is one of the most hopeless feilds ofnhealthcare. Keep throwing pharmaceutical bandaids at people, right? Are you even aware of the ramifications of benzodiazepines? Are you even aware that Pfizer manufacturers a lot of the benzodiazepines? How can you sit there and say you have nothing against big pharma? It’s big pharma and doctors like yourself that prevent medications that would treat the cause instead of the symptom from being manufactured. Big pharma wants people to stay sick. How else do you think they can perpetually make money??? 🤦‍♂️

Thank you so much for this. I’ve dealt with this pain for over 30 years. Have been to dentists, Endodontics’s, ENTs, neurologists. Have had numerous procedures and meds. It’s unrelenting and still unclear of the source of this pain. My whole life has been focused on dealing with this pain. I have never felt there was any cohesiveness in the medical world in treating this condition. You seem to be trying to do that. God Bless you.

As somehow ago has chronic vestibular migraine, this was verry helpful. I have also had success with the CGRPs and have a similar treatment protocol as this patient with regards to meds that did not prove effective. So good to know more than Neurologist and ENTs are treating this.

We need more doctors like you! Dentists are generally clueless when it comes to this type of pain.

Excellent presentation and essential topic. The "SOPPRANO" (Study of Orofacial Pain and PropRANOlol ) study is the beginning of many other studies that shows the relationship between orofacial pain and headaches, migraine headaches, and other neurovascular diseases. It opens the options to Orofacial Pain dentists to explore other options to treat chronic orofacial/myofascial pain patients with non-opioid medications. Thank you, Dr. Tchivileva, for your research paper and the presentation.
