Hi there! Ha - it seems like the universe is trying to tell you to play Castles of Burgundy! There are indeed a lot of tiles, but it is not so fiddly I would say. The game is a lot of fun to play - we were surprised at how good it is actually because we are not big fans of games that rely on luck, and there is a lot of dice rolling, but there is definitely more strategy than luck in this one. Definitely worth giving a go. Thanks for watching!

Hi! I have two questions! XD Q1: What if I harvest 9 red grapes and I already have 9 and 8 grapes in my crash pad. Where will it go? Q2: If the order is 4 red wine and 1 white wine and I want to fill it, then In my cellar I have 6 red wines and 9 white wines available. It will all be used in the order I mentioned? Thank you in advance! ❤
@AllAboardBoardgames
@AllAboardBoardgames 11 дней назад
Hello. If you harvest grapes, and their value is already taken, then you place it in the next available slot, so in the case of Q1 it will go into slot 7. When you fulfil an order, you must pay wines that are AT LEAST the value of the wines in the order. So, for your Q2 example, you would use your 6 red wine to fulfil the "4 red wine" part of the order, and your 9 value white wine to fulfil the "1 white wine" part of the order. It is a bit inefficient and you would be better off making a new white wine and trying to find another order that needs a more valuable white wine, if you have time. Hope this helps. Very excellent playthrough. I have had this game on my shelf for far too long, and now I can finally get my mind wrapped around the gameplay, thanks to this video. I have a question about a minor rule distinction. When Glai was activating her Wetlands birds, the first bird allowed her to draw a card, and discard one from her hand at the end of her turn. It looked like she was drawing the card and then discarding one immediately. It didn't make a difference for most of the game, but there was at least one turn when she activated both this bird and the bird that lets the player(s) with the fewest Wetlands birds draw a card. Could she not have drawn the card from the first bird, then drawn the card from the second bird, and then decided which card to discard, as activating the second bird comes before the end of her turn?
@AllAboardBoardgames
@AllAboardBoardgames 20 дней назад
Hi Jim! Really glad that you liked the playthrough, and it is great to hear that our video will help you get the game down off your shelf. When you start playing, it is actually quite straightforward and easy to follow. Just set it up and give it a go! As regards your question, Glai's Black Tern's ability says that "When activated, draw 1 card. If you do, discard 1 card from your hand at the end of your turn." She should not have discarded immediately - it is meant to happen at the end of the turn, though she may just have had a card that she knew she wasn't going to use anyway, so it probably didn't really make much difference. But technically yes, she should have waited until the end of her turn before discarding, and therefore she could have drawn the card from the first bird, then drawn the card from the second bird, and then decided which card to discard.

On the paladin's first turn, he did damage and then got the crit token. Since the damage is already over by the time you get the crit, I don't think you can use it immediately. So the monk would not have received the 4 chi. This is not how the game would've played out

New spells: Water: Corrosion: Any monster with a metallic weapon can save using it's mind points/d6 on a 6, undead save with a roll of 5-6. Failure means their weapon melts by acidic water and is useless, and their attack dice value drops to one. Cannot be used on gargoyles, mummies or boss monsters. (This spell can cripple hard hitting monsters, like dread knights.) Crashing Wave: Select a 2x3 square area in front of a caster, any monster on it gets thrown back 1d6 squares by conjured water waves. Should they hit a wall, they lose their next turn. (Nice one for crowd control. Needless to say, this is more effective in rooms than in long corridors.) Earth: Muddy Earth: Select a 3x1 area, on 8 square distance. This concealed area becomes a soft, wallowing and crushing muddy ground which drowns. Any monster walking or standing in it has to roll a black shield on it's defend roll or immidiately suffer 1 dmg and lose their next turn, if they survive. If they roll to save, the monster move speed through the squares is still halved(one such square takes 2 movement). Heroes are immune to this space. (Can be used to either attack or set a trap for incoming enemies in a choke point.) Stone Wall: Can be cast either on a door or a square in a narrow corridor that you see. This space becomes a sturdy stone wall for the next 2 Zargon turns, not allowing anything to pass through. (Nice way to block enemies if your party member needs to escape.) Wind: Fortuitous Winds: Cast on any party member, including self. For their and Zargon's next turn, any rolls they make(movement, attack, defend) may be rolled twice and take the better result. Teleportation: Choose one: Either cast on self or a party member to teleport them to any square that has been explored, or on a party to return them immidiately to the stairs(unless the quest specifically says finding the stairs is the objective). Does not require line of sight. (This is another escape option, or if you need to move a party member near some other location to start to explore, or for simple convenience a fast way to exit a completed quest.) Fire: Flaming Weapons: Can be cast on any 2 ally weapons. They become flaming, giving them an 1 attack die bonus or 2 against mummies and zombies. The enchantments end once the heroes see no monsters. Burning Shield: Can be cast on self or an ally you see, in reaction to a hit. Immidiately ignore the damage and cause the attacker 2 dice worth of fire dmg(cannot be defended against). (Can be a life saver, or simply negate one of those nasty 3+ dmg hits that you get sometimes.)

I would have added some more weapons to the game: Fish Stabber - Trident(Artifact): 3 attack dice, 4 if attacking abominations. Can be used to attack diagonally. 2h. Can store a water element spell, one use per adventure. Partisan Spear: 3 attack dice. Attacks 2 squares away(can also be used if behind a hero to stab a monster infront of that hero). Can be used to attack diagonally. 2h. 350 g. Mace: 2 attack dice, 3 if attacking skeletons. 1h. 180 g. White Iron Torch(Artifact): 2 attack dice, 3 against zombies and mummies and while attacking a mummy you can reroll any white shields against it once per turn. 1h. Dwarven War Hammer: 3 attack dice, 4 if attacking against skeletons, dread warriors or gargoyles. Can only be used by a dwarf. 1h. War Axe of Raging(artifact): 5 attack dice, 2h. Can only be used by the Barbarian. If a Barbarian has 3 or less health left, add one attack dice. (This would be a great artifact for the barbarian, with the rage bonus on this weapon, a low health barbarian would become a killing machine. It is a 2h so no using shields.) Holy Vanquisher - Sword(Artifact): 3 Attack dice, can be used to attack diagonally. Once per adventure, you can inflict 3 attack dice of damage to any number of undead foes that you see, this cannot be defended against. 1h. Spiked Flail: 3 Attack dice, on a successful attack(at least 1 skull), roll 1d6. On a 6, the monster is stunned by the blow and loses the next attack round if it survives(it can still defend). On a 1, roll 1 combat die, on a skull, you hit yourself for one damage accidentally! 1h. 360 g. (This is a fun weapon with a roulette kind of system) Main Gauche - dagger: Equipped on second hand. If your attack connects(one skull rolled at least), you can make an additional attack with one attack die, this cannot be defended against. When defending, you may reroll one black shield. 280 g. (This would be an option for the elf for example, who wanted to risk extra attack instead of a something like a shield.) Ranged options: Magic Wand: Inficts 1 point of magical damage regardless of defence dice, the monster saves if it rolls a 6 on d6/mind point, undead save if they roll 5-6. Ranged. Can only be used by a wizard. Has 2x Wizards mind points of charges per adventure. 380 g. (A ranged attack option for a wizard, which would make him more useful during combats as he could still have a good shot at killing weaker monsters from afar or supporting the party by trying to reduce stronger foes hit points.) Dwarven Flintlock Pistol: Can be equipped in second hand. 2 attack dice, ranged, because of the penetration power of a flintlock bullet, any monster attacked loses one black shield value when defending. If 2 black shields are rolled on attack, the gun misfires and the shooter has to spend one of their next actions to clear it. Can be used to attack an adjacent foe. Has 8 bullets ammo pack. Cannot be used by the barbarian(he doesn't understand the tech) or the wizard. 340 g, restock 5 g per bullet. Dwarven Bomb: Can be thrown to any square within a range of 6. On a square it lands roll 3 attack dice on any enemy there(cannot be defended), and for any enemy/ally in adjacent squares roll 2 attack die(can be defended). If 2 black shields are rolled with the initial attack, the bomb was a dud and doesn't go off. Dwarf can carry 4 of these bombs per quest. Only able to be used by the dwarf. 250 g, restock 20 g per bomb. Hand Crossbow: 2 Attack dice, ranged. Equipped in second hand. Can be used to attack an adjacent foe. If used by a second attack, monster rolls 1 defense die lower to block. Comes with a pack of 10 bolts. Cannot be used by the wizard. 270 g, restock 1 g per bolt. Short Bow: 2 attack dice, ranged, 2h. Cannot attack against an adjacent enemy. Cannot be used by the wizard. Comes with a quiver that stores 15 arrows. (I decided to add ammunition to ranged weapons like these, and crossbow to balance the difficulty somewhat.) 200 g, restock 1g per arrow. Long Bow: 4 attack dice, ranged, 2h. Cannot Attack against an adjacent enemy. Cannot be used by the dwarf or wizard. Comes with a quiver that stores 15 arrows. (shop sells larger quivers and you can also find arrows via treasure searching.) 500 g, restock 1 g per arrow. Also as a caviat, skeletons would get 2 defense die bonus to defend from ranged weapons, unless they were magical or pistol/bomb type. Also a handy artifact for the wizard, since he tends use the spells up rather quickly and has no decent weapons really: Sorcery Orb (Artifact): Roll 1d6. On a 5-6, randomly draw 6 spells back from the ones you have used. On a 3-4, randomly draw 3 spells back from the ones you have used. On a 1-2, lose 1 health and mind point. Can be used only once during an adventure. May only be used by a wizard.

Hi Mike! Thanks a lot for the subscription. The Empire always goes first, though the Force starts with the Rebels to balance this out. From then on you just keep taking turns until the end of the game, with the Rebels going second, the Empire going third and so on. Hope this helps!

Hi Mark! Thanks a lot for watching our video. It's great to hear that you were able to follow the game. There are a lot of rules in this one and it takes a bit of learning, but when you start playing it is quite smooth for the most part. Let us know how you get on when you get to play! Cheers!

Three years late 😂 but @41:17 neither house would have bought your lemonade as your restaurant was 2 tiles and 1 tile away, making the unit price for Glai's restaurant cheaper compared to yours, so they would have gone to her restaurant instead. Waitresses are used to break ties.

Hi there! Thanks a lot for watching our video, and we're really glad that you liked it. As regards the lemonade, both Glai and I have a restaurant on the same tile as the 2 houses that want lemonade, so they bought from mine because I have more Waitresses. Please let me know if I am missing something here. Cheers!

Oh yes, Glai wins about as many as I do, especially the heavier games. I don't want to give away any spoilers but there are plenty of them there. When Glai is on form and determined she is very hard to beat! :-) Thanks for watching!

Hello, Thank you very much for watching the video. We do give a few tips at the end of the game. I think that in the early game you should check to see which colour is most common amongst the point cards available, and then try to buy some lower level cards of that colour. You definitely need to build your engine as quickly as you can. Also keep an eye on what the other players are collecting and if it looks like they are aiming for a point card that you are going for yourself, you should reserve it to make sure you don't lose it. You will also get a wild token for this which will help you build it. Getting the Avenger tile is a nice bonus too so picking up cards with the Avengers icon is a good idea and also keep an eye on the location cards which come with some nice bonus points. Finally, remember that you need at least one card of each colour and a Time stone to meet the conditions for assembling the Infinity Gauntlet. You cannot win the game if you do not meet these conditions. Sometimes, cards of a particular colour can be rare, so if you get an opportunity to pick up rare colours (especially lower value ones) then you should go for it. Hope this helps!

@AllAboardBoardgames Месяц назад
@@joebananas2003 Haha! Yeah, there are an awful lot of rules in this game, and there can be some strange interactions between the cards too, but it is a fantastic game and as long as you are having fun that's the main thing. Some easy to miss rules to look out for are: 1) If you draw weaknesses in your opening hand leave them aside and shuffle them back into your deck after you mulligan. They don't count towards your 5 cards. 2) If a card has the keyword "Peril" you may not discuss with other players before making a decision on what to do, and other players at your location cannot commit cards to that skill test. 3) Other players at your location can commit a maximum of 1 card each to your skill test. 4) A monster does not move if it is exhausted UNLESS the card causing the move says "Forced". 5) Anything that does not cost an action does not cause an Attack of Opportunity, for example, Fast actions or reactions. 6) "Retaliate" only happens after a FAILED skill test. 7) If you need to draw a card from your deck and there are no cards left, reshuffle your deck and take 1 horror. 8) Even if you use all the resources on a card, do not discard that card from in front of you. You can discard it if an encounter causes it to be discarded, or if you have no slots left and want to play a card to that slot (hand slots, amulet slots etc). 9) Tests on Encounter cards in a player's threat area can be done by ANY investigator in the same location. So, for example, you can resolve another player's Weakness if you are on the same location. 10) Actions with the Lightning icon can be taken multiple times in the same phase. For example, with "Hard Knocks" you could spend 3 resources to get +3 to your combat. Hope this helps and have fun!!!

Gret video with excellent explanation. 42:45 Pat uses the assistant in location 9 to explore 3 spaces. However, he could have moved 4 due to his Pioneer, which could have get him 5 VP (4 from crossing the blue border and 1 from the ending space). But 3 extra doubloons is also great. 44:35 Glai performs a combat action as the benefit of a quest tile. The combat tile gives only 2 strength for England, she adds 2 from her ship board to place an English cube and gain 2 doubloons and she ends her turn. However, she has still 6 strength on her ship board. So she could have spend 5 more strength to gain 2 more influence in England. Or she could have spend 4 strength instead of 2 to displace the French cube from Cartagena (actually done at 54:00) and gain 4 doubloons, which she wanted. And then spend another 2 strength to gain an extra influence in England. At the beginning of the game you have 2 combat actions available, which both can be used once during one single combat. You can perform as many DIFFERENT combat actions within one combat, as long as you have enough strength to spend on them. 55:03 Did Pat forgot his Pioneer (again)? 58:19 Adding quests at the end of round 2. In a 2-player game there should only be placed a quest in location 7 and NOT in 8. The quest for location 8 is only placed in a 3- or 4-player game. 1:43:40 End game scoring: Spain and France both have 2 cubes out on the board, so they BOTH have second place and both get the +1VP bonus for being second. See rulebook, page 11: "In the case of a tie, all tied nations receive the higher value." And/or read this thread on BGG: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2708540/final-scoring-majority-bonus

Hi there! Thanks a lot for commenting and also for your strategy insights. I (Pat) did indeed forget to use my Pioneer on a few occasions, and Glai certainly could have used her extra strength for extra benefits on her turn. You are correct about the Quest only being added to location 7, as well as the end game scoring error. Thank you for letting us know about those, and for the timecodes. I have made notes in the Klingon subtitles. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video, I’m a bit late to the party. This explains the game well, better than the instructions, that’s for sure. I’m a bit unclear still about what happens to the resources used to build a Wonder. Do they all get placed underneath, never to be used again, or only the card that you drew in that turn?
@AllAboardBoardgames
@AllAboardBoardgames Месяц назад
Hi there. It's great that our video has helped you to learn the game. As regards building Wonders, first of all you take the Age Card, and pay the cost of the Wonder (not the one of the Age card). Then place the Age card you took face down, partially covered by the Wonder card which is being constructed. The used card has no effect, it is simply used to show that the Wonder has been built. The resources are used as normal, so if your city produces them you can use them and you will still have those cards for the rest of the game. You may also use the Trade action to get resources, the same as you would to build any other card. The cost to trade for resources is 2 + number of symbols of the same resources produced by the brown and grey cards of the opposing city. Hope this helps!
