In the beginning they were all active and had some kind of journal in them. Now I view them like jackets hahah wrapping around my journals/inserts depending on the mood ☺️ I’ve learned I like the system best as my project or collection journals. For example I have a journal for stationery stores I visit and when I meet my stationery friends. I have another one where I document coffee shops, and new beverages I order. Sometimes I keep finished inserts in the covers to keep them full and to flip through from time to time.
I have only tried some samples but do not own any bottles. I hear the bottles are a little bit of a nightmare having a small base 😅 I do enjoy their inks tho! Peter Moss and Steeped Umber I have gone through 2 samples of each! Have you tried them?
I don’t tell anyone anything about anything, that being written if someone is an over-sharer that doesn’t bother me at all-I’m not a gatekeeper nor do I suppress anyone’s personality-I think to each their own-share as much or as little as you want. I enjoyed watching the video and your desk set up-nicely done!❤
Thank you for your comment! My mind is already exploding trying to think about not sharing 😆 but everyone’s got their own way of thinking and whether that leads them to do something about it. I have a friend like you that doesn’t share and she simply said it doesn’t come across her mind whether to share or not share.
I tell everyone that if you can handle 3, you can handle 10! Number 3 really changed things, for me. I think because it meant the adults were outnumbered.
I have heard this from everyone that has 3 or more! I have been telling my husband this too haha. For me, I would want to continue the close age gap (within 4 years) so if baby number 4 ever comes along it will be “soon”-ish. Kudos to you for 3 hehe!
@@journalwithjas unfortunately, I lost 2 after my 3, but my oldest and middle are 22 months apart, my middle and youngest are 33 months apart. So, I had a solid 6 years of being pregnant and/or nursing. My baby turned 25 yesterday, and I wouldn’t change one minute of any of it! You have my sincerest best wishes. One day you’ll miss it.
@@susanpepper1671I’m sorry for your loss, thank you for sharing me 💞 I’m going on 4 years starting since 2020 of being pregnant or nursing. It really does feel like it’s never ending but I know one day it will end for good and I’m already sad! 🥺
@@journalwithjas thank you. It took a long time, but I’ve come to a place of peace. I love hearing about you and your young family. It’s such an amazing gift.
I am not asking for details on your budget, don't' want to get that personal, and I was wondering costs wise, were the items like Plotter less expensive outside the fact the Yen is down. Comparing apples to apples, if you could buy those items in the US, would they be the same price. I'm trying to nail down a budget for stationary on my trip. 😊
Thank you for being considerate! I am not shy so if you’re interested in more details you are free to ask. Everything I compared, including Plotter was less than the US market. I would say the U.S. market would be the next price point after Japans. Anything available to the EU market was even more expensive. However, I was surprised to find fountain pens to not be much cheaper than online retailers. For that reason I did not purchase a fountain pen. If you are interested in Plotter (and are okay with the silver ring mechanism) I definitely recommend purchasing in Japan! The Yen is still very low (and inflation in U.S. rising) so there is a huge benefit to purchasing in Japan.
@@journalwithjas Thank you for the reply. Sometimes people can ask really person details and I didn't want that person. 😉 Good to know on the pricing. I want to stick with items that are specific to Japan. Seems that was pretty much what you did as well. Travelers, Plotter, Starbucks items you can't or it's really difficult to get in the states. I had heard that about fountain pens and I've seem some special editions pens only released in Japan I'd like to have but don't want to blow my budge there either. I'd love to have Book Cafe Lemon Lamy pen but I've only seen it twice. Once here on RU-vid and once on TikTok. Unless it's something like that, I'll probably stay away from the pens. My plan is to go in April 2025 which will be peak time, for 14 days. In your opinion, would you stay in different hotels within Tokyo? We are also visiting Kyoto, Osaka, and maybe Hiroshima so I'm already booking several hotels and from what I read, staying within the ward/city is much easier than traveling. Again, thank you for the reply and sharing your wonderful. Everything was so nice. ☺
@@kimdburns I would have to say whether you stay in Tokyo at one hotel or multiple would depend on where you want to sightsee. Tokyo is very big but the train system makes everything possible from one accommodation. If you only have a few days it may be wiser to just stay at one hotel. But if you have let’s say a full 7 days, you could split that between two hotels. It may seem annoying to pack and unpack but the change in hotel could save you hours of waiting for transportation and time spent in the trains in general. All in all, everything is reachable because of Japans train system. It’s just a matter of grouping things together so you don’t spend so much time on transportation. I stayed just outside of Tokyo (in Kawasaki) but it still took 40min to an hour to most major Tokyo sights, not including the millions of steps it takes to walk 😅
Nothing like watching someone organize to get you to want to organize! It would be nice to just snap our fingers though. There is always that middle stage of regret when the biggest mess is made removing everything 🤣
Thank you for commenting! It is a medium nib, only inked once and barely written with. I have the original box (but still awaiting my moving shipment). The ink included in the set was disposed of by customs 😔 so it would only come with the converter. If you are interested and want pictures and price, you can email me at journalwithjas@gmail.com!
Can you share your thoughts or plans on how you would do your kids milestone journal? I’ve been thinking about doing this for my kids and I’m very undecided on what to use and how. Would love to see how others do it. Thanks x
Absolutely! I wish I had more actually journaled to do a video haha. One day I hope! maybe doing a setup video will motivate me to start my 4 year olds 😂 Anyways! I started my sons when he was born. The first year of life has every month with major milestones like crawling, walking, etc. After the first year of life I do major events such as traveling or vacation experiences, first time attending daycare or school, and major family events like relocating for Dad’s job. I try not to put things that “only Mom cares about” 😂 I keep in mind that the journal is a gift to them one day and their friends or partner will enjoy to look at one day. I do plan to have some more emotional sentimental pages throughout like a Letter to my kids when they encounter their first bully, or have a best friend move away, first breakup etc. my kids are only in toddlerhood now but I keep a post it note of future things to add as they grow because life only gets more chaotic and we forget the ideas we have!
I don't know what the questions are, I don't know what the answers will be, and I don't know how personal we're getting. But my nondairy salted caramel cookie matcha drink and I are getting cozy and ready 🍵✨
I’m still looking for a the camel Records passport that doesn’t cost $600 🥹 was just new to travelers at the time of the release and didn’t know it was special edition until it was too late. Still hoping I can walk into a partner store somewhere in the world and they’ll have a hidden stash!
What are your thoughts about the upcoming collaboration with TRC × Goldwing? Im definitely going to try and score one, but I fear it's going to be competitive 😅
I really like the design! The black TN and gold foiling is always a good combo but I really like the direction of the design they went with. I personally don’t think I’ll pick it up. I don’t know anything about blackwing nor do I see myself buying/using their pencil. I almost wish I was a sketch artist so I could connect with the collaboration more 😆 I think it would be a great one to collect though!
Love all the covers. I have recently fallen in love with Traveler’s Company and more so after a recent trip to Tokyo. Can I ask how the patches were attached. It looks like they are sewn on? How was that done? I have gotten into collect the rarer covers and have recently acquired the Traveler’s Record’s cover from an Etsy seller.
Yes they were sewn on! I asked a friend who does leather work and he hand sewed them on. Baum Kuchen offers a service to sew patches on to covers, it is $15 per patch. I just had a friend find a local leather repair worker and they were able to sew a patch on to a TN cover for $18 CAD.
Jus a fyi, the train, plane, hotel and records set was not a us exclusive, it was worldwide, somewhat limited but available in all the shops that wanted it. Like the more recent tokyo set.
Yes that’s true! I misspoke even though I know that 😂 The pressure of recording always gets me to fumble. however, it feels like no matter what they release, tends to feel like an exclusive worldwide because of how hard it is to get them after release
Great video! My olives are my favorite cover color followed by the brown. I love seeing how you personalized the covers and showcased how your covers aged. Thank you for sharing! 💖🫶🏻
For standard TN sized notebooks I have not. I enjoy the sewn inserts by Travelers Company. I have no tried a TN sized bound book journal that would require me to get a different cover. I do purchase leather covers in other sizes like A6 and B6.
@@jeffreyclayman6922 I’ve purchased from Elysian Paper (I have videos on them) and enjoy their quality! The customer service at Elysian Paper is outstanding. I also own covers from Eternal Leather Goods and their craftsmanship is beautiful. High on my wishlist to experience and one day own covers from are: HandStitchedLeatherT and Mansorah Atelier
@@jeffreyclayman6922yes to all of those except X17! Gilio and Van der Spek are out of my price range, I hope I can at least feel what one is like from someone else. If you like those, take a look at Shiliu (only sold through YvonnePlans on Instagram) they are more affordable than Gilio and Van der Spek, different leather as well but I see many of their customers frequent the same shops.
Love seeing your photo journal. I actually used to do the same in my hobonichi a6 , I called it my photo album ❤ yours looks so pretty and its nice to have those memories to look back on and knew what happened with the photo :) please check my videos if interested in journaling type videos xx
