When tightening these piercing connectors, you can still see some of the metal teeth looking along the cables from the sides. What does water do inside those connectors? Does it evaporate by itself, can it cause short circuit in some way (dripping many meters past the cable and forming a conductive path?
our connectors had passed the EN-50483:4 and NFC-33-020 type tests. The standard include many test, one of them is the Dielectrical voltage test in water, according to its requirements of 4 KV and 6 KV, underwater 30-40 cm deep.
