Stan and Ollie's wives were never the sweet, gentle women you could expect in other films from that era... They did not hesitate to take the shotgun of the wall , to make their position clear to the husband in question.
As a black man who grew up in England in the seventies,I will always and forever have a soft spot for STAN LAUREL and OLIVER HARDY they got me through my childhood, may they both R.I.P.
OLIVER NORVEL HARDY WAS A VERY GOOD SINGER AND HE SINGS A SONG CALLED SONG CALLED SHINEON HARVEST MOON UP IN THE SKY AND HE WAS AN AMERICAN ACTOR AND SADLY HE DIED FROM A STROKE IN 1957 AND HE WAS A VERY THIN MAN WHEN HE DIED AND STAN LAUREL DIED AT THE AGE OF 65 YEARS OLD AND THEY WERE THE FUNNIEST COMEDY TEAM THAT EVER LIVED 😔
Sounds like it was Dick Van Dyke that did the monolog. Very fitting as you could see he studied Laurels mannerisms and it was a big part of his comedy.

Love Stan and Ollie they was the best then Morecambe and Wish a close second. I actually named my two kittens Stanley and Oliver after them been one of these biggest fans. Both kittens have taken on their profiles as Stanley is the thin one and Oliver is the fat one. .😹😹
Hes one of the reasons why Stanley died Broke!! Producers stole his money! RIP Stand and Ollie.. we loved you as children growing up and i still love you now at 42 looking back at my favourites.. Sons of the desert, pack up your troubles, toad in the hole and way out west to name a few!
A really interesting documentary. My dad knew Oliver Hardy. They met when Hardy moved from Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida. At the time, Jacksonville was a thriving film town and the railroad hub for the southern U.S. My dad worked for the railroad. He lived in the downtown area and had a favorite cafe he would eat dinner (supper: the evening meal) at 2 or 3 times a week. That's where he met Hardy, who was not famous then. My dad said they both had dinner about the same time and one day he was there when Hardy came in. The place was full, and he asked my dad if he could sit in the little booth with him as they had previously spoken several times and had a nodding acquaintance. Afterwards they would dine and chat several times before Hardy moved on to New York And L.A. Long story short, my dad did Oliver a small favor one evening which Hardy apparently never forget. After he moved, he would write on occasion I think there were about 20 letters total and a couple of photos, including one of him and Stanley from one of their movies. All of this was long before I came along as I was from my dad's 2nd marriage, and he was approaching 60 when I was born. Mom was 20 years younger. As far as I know they never met again. I've no idea what happened to the letters and photos, but these are nice memories from my dad.
The white building at 26:24....you say it's at West 48th Street and 2nd Street. You misspoke. It's at W 48th St and 2nd Avenue. I use to live at 43rd Place and Western.
My great uncle was Charlie Hall who starred in a lot of their films. He emigrated from Birmingham UK to Hollywood back in the 1920s and made his fortune!
Older folk still talk about Stan and Oille coming to Belfast in Ireland in the early 1950s - they had time for everyone - they took a walk around the city center and chatted with all the children and grown up's - they remain well-loved - unlike some - they were just as happy talking to ladies and gentlemen working as extras on their films as rushing off to spend time with other big names - pure class as performers and considered gentlemen and that's as good a title as one should hope for
Excellent! I appreciate your research! Its remarkable how Laurel and Hardy transcend generations and it is also impressive that many of the film locations are still recognizable. Thanks for making this video!
