Hey by chance do you have any way that I can get a set of these upgraded brakes from you or if your not making them any more is there a way you could teach me how to do it?
Not sure what you’re referring to. I’ve been around a bunch of dakotas of all engine varieties and never had an idle problem. From stock to highly modified. All idle just fine
awesome! i swapped an Nv3500 from a 94 dakota into my 5.9 Jeep, and this would probably fit perfect if it fit a dakota, and definitely not suck as bad. plus, would definitely beat overhauling it.
No they will not fit 03 spindles. They use 97-02 style spindles that I modify. The 97-02 will swap directly into your 03 however. I’ve had customers with 03-04 trucks buy kits, and I’ve helped buddies swap 03-04 spindles onto their 97-02 trucks for cheap brake upgrades. I provide single piece rotors in the kits to keep costs down but any viper rotor will work; so if you wanted to spend $7,000 per rotor and run light-weight carbon ceramic rotors… you could.
@@filbert383 ok, yeah it's actually a 2000 but I did the 03 spindle swap to run the larger dual piston calipers. So if I provide the 97-02 spindles, and get the calipers, pads and rotors all myself, how much does that usually run?
stunnasam21 I’m not sure I understand your question. Calipers, pads, and rotors typically run $800-1000. You can spend less by buying junkyard parts; but I only provide professionally rebuilt calipers. Not junk yard take-offs.
In the process of essentially building one of these. Already got a Dakota with a 68 383 in it, 69 HP block and set of redone heads sitting. Just saving the funds for the bottom end. Slapped a big rear mount turbo in the bed(need a smaller one) and its a riot. Got the big block power to get going, then all hell lets loose at about 3500rpm when the boost spikes to 7psi+. Though I broke my original plan of not getting fancy and got a Sniper 1250 when I got the bright idea to slap the $300 amazon turbo on it.
Hey nice RT!! Any idea what ever happened to that truck?? There's a chance I might own it now. If not, mine's a twin - even down to the engine build. Same specs, same mods, same side pipes w/power stick mufflers, and it was built about 2012.
I built it for a guy in Michigan who last I heard, moved to TN. I never owned it myself. There’s another video on my feed that better documents the build process.
@@filbert383 I found that video too. It's definitely the same truck! KB pistons, edelbrock heads, scat rods, undersized pulley on the alt, traction bars, orange paint, those goofy header spacers on the heads....although I thought I measured 11:1 comp. It's currently apart getting a refresh....spun the #6 rod bearing after some serious abuse. Do you remember how many miles were on the truck when you built it?
Sorry, I did not pay attention to the mileage back then. I told the owner at the time that he needed to rebuild the trans. It wasn’t shifting right and if you pay attention to the other video, you can hear it shifting ‘goofy’. Sorry to hear that it spun a bearing. As you can tell by my videos, I beat the snot out of the motor before turning it back over to the owner. I didn’t want him to get half way home and have something let go. Last I heard he was still very happy with it and held onto the truck for several years. FYI those ‘goofy spacers’ are standard for dakotas. Spintech makes the headers and they come directly from spintech with the adapter plates.
@@filbert383 Hey just saw your response. So I'm sure your work was NOT the cause of the bearing failure....lol. The old owner flogged this thing pretty relentlessly so I blame that for sure. Just out of curiosity, what kind of oil were you running? Last owner used 15w40 and was adamant about it - it seemed to me that was part of the cause....anyway, still waiting on a backordered camshaft so more to come!
Bill Z 15w40?! I don’t recall on that motor nor do I have the notes anymore but I typically try for .002 or less bearing clearance; so 5w20 or 10w30 would be plenty thick.
I remember my mom had an 05 town and country with the 3.8 i found on Craigslist for 900 bucks. She had the lil tv, leather heated seats, and alll the speed holes. I snuck out with it and ngl she had some power never got caught she was a great car
How do the viper rotors mount? I know some guys on the old forums made a little adapter bar that made the viper calipers fit but the spindles needed to be cut a bit
Konrad Francis I do not have a website. I make each kit to order. They bolt on with simple mechanics tools and you don’t have to cut or machine anything yourself. Kits include new or remanufactured Brembo calipers, new rotors, pads, brake lines, new hubs, etc as well as the custom brackets to mount the front and rear calipers. Fronts are $1750. Rears are $1150. There are some discounts for sending in cores or reusing certain parts like your hubs (especially if you recently replaced them)
Question. I have a 03 dakota.an I have just installed a 5.9l In there an I have a omega shifter I want to install but need cable.but don't want to spend 100 bucks just for a cable where can I order one that won't cost so much
