Will this correct a fence that isn’t 100% square to the bed? I have this same saw and returned the first one because the fence was all jacked up. It’s good at the bottom of the fence but has a slight tilt away from the blade.
Brilliant. I did a similar thing with my DeWalt saw and the pinion gearing broke and could not be repaired. It will likely fail. Otherwise, great video. Nicely done.
So I know this is a few years old, but I'm just seeing it for the first time and wonder if you had any issue with the weight of the additional fence when extended past the table? Any sag or bending? Or did you specifically make for work that would be close to the blade?
Hello Sir. I love your presentation. I have a Dewalt table saw that the surface is 19 X 19 what do you suggest the available working space to be excluding the thickness of the fences ? I appreciate your input.
Hi. Excellent demonstration. is your fence vertical to the face of the table saw ? I am having difficulties with finding a board that is 100% flat. Any ideas ?
Your video is very informative and well presented. I have one question. Your arrangement appears to be rather heavy because of the thickness of the material used and because of the sizes involved. Could you please advise whether you have encountered any problems with this design. Thank you in advance for your response.
Looks like I'm a bit late to this party 🥳 and I've a QUESTION: On the non-blade side of the fence, the plastic housing for the lockdown mechanism actually has this little shoulder-like shape -- did you notch the underside of your fence so that it mates flush with the DW fence, or...?
I have questions about why this or that and size or design but without words the video just leaves them unanswered. Call me old fashioned (or just old) but i expected a how to instructional that explained things, not just a watch me work while listening to repetitive music. I like idea of upgrading my Dewalt fence but what are advantages of your design and why can you not tell us about your thought process that led you to it. Thanks, I appreciate the effort, i hope to learn more next time.
Great build! I need to build something like this I have the same saw. Question, do you find the rack-and-pinion flexes downward under the weight of that MDF when extended out all the way?
It most definitely will. The Rack & Pinion flexes under its own weight, so adding 10-15lbs of 3/4" MDF is really gonna cause issues if the fence is not supported throughout it's entire range of movement.
