Hi, my name is Remy and I like coral. I've decided to devote this channel to my love of the hobby and everything that surrounds it. The channel started back in 2007 and has gone through quite the evolution! You may see some older videos that aren't coral related but from here on out, it's CORAL ALL DAY!
I have a video background so making content runs through my DNA.
Why the llama? I have no idea but he's so darn cute!
I heard that bubbles are not a natural phenomenon, but a mushroom's defense mechanism against artificial blue led light. Isn't that what it looks like in nature?
@BahamaLlamaCoral Hi Sir congratulations very nice and beautiful setups and aquarium. Can you please precise to us the type of Lights you use? Thank you in advance
As someone who gardens as a hobby I can tell you ph is critical for nutrient absorption In the soil. Seems once one gets down into the nitty gritty the real ones know that pH is critical
Bahama Lama you should be posting on this guys system more often his knowledge and research seems to be one of or your best video you ever posted need more of this guys no how 👍🏼 just loved this video in this guy
this is why having algae in you system is needed I have a homemade algae scrubber with a hang on the back aqua clear large with a ph f at least 8.5 24/7 cause I have hair algae working 24/7 and my nitrates got to 150+ and wa there for a long time so I ca believe him when he says every .1 you go up with ph you can have 10 more nitrates because my tank was happy .
Do you use new frag plugs or do they need to be cured first? I have a ton in my sump but someone sent me about eight different zoas all on brand new looking plugs and the little mount on top of the plugs and turned crazy red. Is that cyano? Why would they turn so red? is that normal if they are new plugs because looks like i may have some cyano in my tank from that! Maybe she did that because she had cyano and it came back somehow. Very odd and suspicious that she would change all of them out! Great video Also how do you know they will make it like the third one that you had to cut more flesh? I have a lot of highends but a vendor told me they are difficult to frag and to go up under the flesh not even sure how you do that! Wish I had not of invested 3 k in them. I already had a lot of them melt! Didint realize how difficult highends are to grow and frag!
@@BahamaLlamaCoral I sell coral from my house and had a guy come over requesting I wear a mask. His immune system was compromised so I agreed…but after an hour talking in my small basement a few feet from each other I told the guy maybe home visits isn’t the safest way for you to collect coral lol Strange times indeed
No America is a 5 dollar call girl because they will let everything into the country as far as food and agriculture. They don't care if it harms the people. If you pay enough you can sell it here no matter if it's poisoning people. The rich don't buy it so who cares.
I use my ponds water which is super clean and alkaline and mix my salt in it. IMO the local RO water from water suppliers killed my soft corals and fish and guess what now they thriving. I also add a glass of natural sea water monthly to add some bacterial biodiversity. No more algae issues, no aptasia, no more fish deaths and my softies and inverts are multiplying. A natural approach works better in the long run. I top up with pond water. My LFS would never approve this. 😂
I just got a single polyp of stratosphere they sell for 250$ CDN each normally but I hit an unadvertised flash sale from my favourite online store they were 100$ PP having had very limited experience with zoas and not knowing what I was getting myself into until hit “add to cart” I ordered it along with a couple other verities as 2 years ago my tank burst and since then it’s been a struggle ow that the replacement tank is a year old and the freebies of montipora they sent me in the past wasn’t just alive but growing as fast as they warn you about I jumped on it not gonna lie a week ago it shrivelled up after my last order came in and I had to move stuff around leading to an unfortunate incident where the stratosphere plug popped out of its place amd flew threw the water hit the front glass landing face down in my sand bed, the next day fully opened a hermit crab looking for scraps started bumping into it leading to it getting the “zoa umbrella syndrome” look however I I had no choice but to move it being a single polyp on the plug that I had mounted sideways it was starting to detach long story short it was really pissed off but I left it alone did a 35% water change & had iodine + other things on hand to use to dip if needed were Saturday night I went to bed it was starting to look like it might be doing better I got up Sunday morning and it was 85% open by noon it was fully open as if nothing ever happened were mid afternoon Tuesday and it’s actually showing obvious growth….. I hear you about the whole nail biting “it’s gonna melt” experience and 100$ is the most I’ve ever spent on a single coral with the exception of my rainbow “open brain” tracheaphillia having cost me double that however when you actually think about size vs. Cost I paid Pennie’s to the dollar per gram for most things $ although I have many high end Montipora, Favia, & Chalice frags + my lobo & trachea they have all been bought for 1/2 or less on flash sales or were absolutely huge this was the most expensive coral size / dollar I’ve ever bought and the most valuable coral when you consider the regular price that aside I will say that it appears to be much more resistant than expected I got it after cooing over the stock pix online having fallen in love with its look deciding that if it ever came on sale for a good price I’d jump on it not knowing what I was getting being an “LPS guy” who was looking at zoas my only regret is not having gotten a “2 polyp” example as they sell 250$ for one 500$ for 2 & the sale price was the same 100$ for one 200$ for two I shoulda went for it but live and learn it was 1/3rd grown about the same size as a full grown pinwheel Zoa it’s substantially larger than what it was and seems like it’s gonna sprout out a baby soon ….. that’s my experience/story thus far with some luck and prayers this experiment with Zoa keeping will work out for me any suggestions for keeping it outside of just letting nature take care of it would be great
Seems like his business is gone. Was in search of a long clowns and names for a 150 harem build. If anyone knows where to find Ben and if he still is doing this, please drop a comment.
