bye bye engine, u dont just slap a turbo on a om616 without straightening the internals like bearings, rods and maybe oil sump pump from turbo engine. But for the labor and money needed to do it properly, u might as well throw in om617a with tuned IP and bigger turbo. U clearly dont know what you doing
I didn't just slap it on and thanks for assuming I don't know what I'm doing. I've turbo charged many engines over 40 years. So assume something else I have another video on the outcome. Don't make insulting assumptions when you really don't know. Learning means you don't stop learning. I will never know everything by any means but keep learning everything I can related.
Make sure you have a capture can and very good drainage back to the pan, keep vent tube high in capture can and a tube from top of capture can to intake side of turbo, important how that is all routes. You'll need extra fueling or you won't feel any gain in power just cleans up the smoke.
Hello friend, I saw your video and I would like to get a question right, I took my th400 transmission to be repaired but it did not make the third change, I already changed the governor, modular, converter, and it continues the same, now to your great experience what will be the problem for which Does the third change not make the transmission? please help
If you've done all that it sound like your fwd drum is not applying and could have a torn lip seal or overrun sprag not holding. It may be internal at that point. There are of course many variables like governor springs, governor itself, circuit valves for that gear and the above physical issues, even accumulator issue as well. Do what you can externally, then internally from the valve body or remove and inspect. You can aircheck with valve body off.
I had to put part 2 on Vimeo sur to some music I used, of course. Just search "part 2, turbo on 240. Rings were to shot on this car. Installing on my other 240 with good rings. Will have that video here.
Loved this! Loved talking with you both. Your sharing on this is where I was the past week regarding confidence. I think your training style matches that of my coach.
I’m on the third transmission in my 99 suburban and it keeps breaking the pump first pump went 14,000 miles Next pump broke installing due to my own error and had a new pump in and had the guy who rebuilt it put it in to make sure it was done correctly and it worked for about 250 miles then it broke again. Any ideas?
I see you already have the shaft out of the control arm. My 57 Dodge has a shaft that's threaded on both ends and you have to remove a cotter pin and castle nut before you can get the pin and therefore the bushing out. Even a thin wall socket will not fit in there. Have you run into this and is there a work around? I can't say for sure that the size it 15/16 but it appears to be. I don't want to turn down a socket not knowing for sure what size it is. There's gotta be another way... HELP! LOL
I got look at t his a little closer and you can press the shaft assembly out of the control arm pocket AND even press it back in after you change the bushing. I have done it before where I snuck the pin out and and bolt off and pressed the bushing out but it was a different year and model. 62 Dodge I believe...but now I'm wondering if I maybe couldn't have pressed the assembly out and back in on that one too...
Really great job man!I also want to tune my sv 650(not turbo)but i ready that they got problem with crank at 85hp...i see you above 100hp,what about the crank?
Best way is to start with a th475. HD case. 6 clutch direct. Factory deep pan and STRAIGHT CUT GEARS = No thrust loads. Already can take the 34 element sprag with zero machining. Just rollerize the rear case(eliminate the 3 tang and 4 tang washers). Slap a transbrake in her, dual feed direct clutches and she will hold a 1000 hp without even trying
Jaese066 I am starting with the th475 with HD case an straight cut gears. This is my 1st trans build. Could you email me I would like some of your advice if your willing. jeepin270@yahoo.com
I've been doing this mod for last 10 years. I buy a pack of brass set screws and drill hole per build specs. In Ohio where I live the best transmission builders in the world live and have taught me many secrets over last 20 years. 4L80E's have a similar issue with runaway back pressure that GM never fixed correctly in the OEM factory builds and the main reason 6L80E's are a poor choice for high performance compared to the 4L80E that shares 40% of TH400 hard parts. I thought about sharing build videos like you have, but who actually cares about these issues except the builders. LOL. Nice video share for those to learn about.
Thanks, the problems been around obviously a very long time. Builders should know this but unless one comes across the info, we do the same old thing. Kudos to your experience and knowledge! :)
Hi, no 700 band can not be used in the 400. I was referencing how i dont use Kevlar bands in stock application...i just happen to have a 4l60e band handy in reference.
Great video! I did these mods to my th400 a couple years ago and it’s still going strong. Wish I had seen this video first, it would have made my life a little easier lol
