Having lived in a war zone in Southern Africa for years, carrying a firearm was a part of normal life . Same goes to say regarding the fear factor . Australia is risk averse and living here I noticed people don’t like taking risks . My dog 🐕 travels with me and he is a good early warning system. Always carry a deterrent aswell. The biggest risk I guess is falling branches you mentioned and the wildlife.

I go camping with my dog, mostly autumn and winter only, here in OZ, I do it mostly in the New England, I have a spot where it gets down to -8C nearly all the time. I dont have a fire or heating or an electric blanket, I do have a -30F down sleeping bag, and a -15F sleeping bag for my dog, it covers both of us. I don't have any heating in the camper or tent whatsoever, I am usually out for 6 weeks, and after the first week of cold nights me and the dog are used it. It is mainly cause I am old, and need to get up to use a "P" bottle a couple of times at night, so I want to be able to handle the cold at that time. Am also ex-army,(1 TPT Squadron/161 Recce Squadron/ 1 ATSR) slept many a freezing cold nite on exercise and or training, maybe that's why I can still handle the cold today. EDIT: Not to say I wont use heating but it has to be at least -10 C before I start thinking about that.

i actually watch channels like these to get tips because me and my 7 yr old son lived in a tent for about a month, I still keep the ute set up with items to camp when we need to because our housing situation is not great.. so no we are not all rich living it up etc... and frankly the constant flow of ridiculous caravan set ups (which most of the time probably sit idle in a yard) means finding a spot for us to "live" at times is painful / expensive. lot of disparity in Australia now. (and his ipad is my chance to get an hour or two of rest lol)
@Haveacrack76
@Haveacrack76 3 дня назад
That sucks mate. This time of year we see caravans all the time (our town seems to be a stop over point for those heading north) but outside of the winter-spring, we see far less. I imagine them all sitting in garages.

I solo motorcycle camp here in the U.S I bring a product that is a bleed stop for large wounds. Like you said slowing down and being more careful while chopping wood, vegetables etc. I also put bells on my pack while hiking. I carry bear spray and "The Governor " For personal protection. Bears, cougars, and people. I agree though don't allow it in your head. Keep camp picked up and locked up. Happy Camping!🙂

The ones jacked with every Accessory under the sun is to give the materialistic people something to want. And people with big back pockets will happily spend the 300-500k on it. That’s good for business. Helping grow these business owners who offer these packages great wealth. I think that’s really all it comes down to. We are turning into America where bigger is better in all situations.

i dont really get it either, from all the youtube channels and likewise of 4wd crews in Australia, you dont really see these american trucks in those spaces, more likely in the carparks at local shopping centres, which is wierd because i have a hard enough time parking my GU in most of those carparks.

Sounds like Cel-fi was working normally. It is and always has been complete and utter junk. If you insist on mobile there are lots of illegal boosters on eBay which work very well. All that said, nowadays we just use Starlink roaming mounted on the roof. It’s the ONLY reliable solution.

When sleeping in a dodgy or remote area, I sleep with a 10" cordless chainsaw beside the bed. If someone actually comes into my off road caravan at night to do me or my wife harm, they may be in trouble. Outside noises I don't care, they can have it.

First off, that wheel chair rig was spectacular! I too don't know anyone in a wheel chair, but still thought that was a great idea. ... "Big American Trucks" seems to be a hot topic down your way these days. That's why, up here in North America, Jeeps are pretty much the way to go and have taken over. There are others starting to make their way into our market, but Jeeps are everywhere. Like you said, they wouldn't be able to go most places we go in our Jeeps. I say to my wife, when we have to turn around, "imagine if we had a full sized truck! We wouldn't be able to turn around." Here in Canada we have a lot of trees ... Why we don't have trailers either. Gets pretty tight up here. Not many wide open spaces. But the "big American Trucks", they do look cool... "Sensational" ... But that's the only reason. Most are just "Pavement Princesses." And most here, are used to trailer their offroader to a trail.

the "trucks" are getting popular because all the other options are getting expensive + upgrades its not that much more to get a RAM. according to the site a 79 is around 95k drive away another 15-20k for GVM thats 110-115k may as well get a 1500 want some thing that's not a base model like a 300 that's 150k another 50k+ for the chop pushing well over 200k Ram 2500 can be had for 172K.

White don’t get is that many RU-vidrs who have American trucks travel with only 2 people and yet have 22 foot + vans and all the gear. I know it’s to create content but seriously they live on another planet. We travel with a Colorado 7 towing a 19 ft van and use at least 20% less fuel, can get parts (if needed) and we can get into car parks. I just don’t get the need for oversized everything. Just my view cheers

Camped for many years in Vic, mainly High Country. We have come across more crackheads lately. These people are not like the drunken hoons who are pretty harmless mostly. The druggies are unpredictable. We always have the vehicle facing out of the camp and ready to leave. If anyone too dodgy comes in we are out of there.

Informative and entertaining! As a female who solo camps in a small tent personal safety is always at the back of my mind. But I think women have good reason to feel edgy at times. We are physically not as strong as most blokes therefore being more vulnerable. I’ve never watched Wolf Creek (and never will!) because it would probably stop me from solo camping/hiking. I think you are right about most people being “good”. In 20 years of doing this gig I’ve never once felt threatened or been harassed. Maybe I’m just lucky… Looking forward to more vids
