"The ability to derive strenght from hope is undoubtebly mankind's greatest attribute, which is why i will focus all of my power..." *The hopefull background music suddenly stops* "... to snuff it out." This! Is a villain's introduction, what we thought was just a shapeless narrator was the real villain all along. And the way the monologue changes, what seemed the start of a hope inspiring speach suddenly turns in a threat and the promise to destroy said hope, leaving only despair. Salem is the perfect example of what Megamind said in his movie: The difference between a villain and a SUPERvillain is presentation.
"But take heed, there will be no victory in strength." "But perhaps victory is in the simpler things you've long forgotten. Things that require a smaller, more honest soul." I think her downfall will be that she failed to divide humanity as she planned since Ruby united all of Remnant against her by telling everyone the truth. They will work together and find a way to bring peace to Remnant which will ultimately result in the Gods giving humanity a positive judgement. Perhaps then they will finally release Salem and Ozma from their curse, and let them rest. Also, when is this conversation between Salem and Ozma taking place? We have yet to see it in the actual show, and it was not even alluded to in the origin flashbacks. Maybe at some point towards the end of the series, Oscar will be captured, and Salem and Ozma will have this discussion. Then, Ruby will arrive to save them and the rest of humanity.
Listen. I play Resident Evil. I watch Stranger Things. And I’ve seen a LOT of horror related things. NOTHING that fictional media has produced scares me like this…. I don’t even know what to call it.
Weirdly enough, I think she'd be more charming post-V3 if she had Spongebob levels of optimism constantly. Like a perpetual state of "things are bad, but I know they can get better no matter what!" But that's just me.
This feels very fitting to the lore of Warhammer 40,000. Remove the Grimm and Dust and replace them with 40k topics, and it makes a harrowing parallel, imo.
“The ability to derive strength from hope is undoubtedly mankind's greatest attribute... which is why I will focus all my power... to snuff it out.” Can’t lie, that last line gave me chills the first time I heard it. It’s such a menacing introduction to a villain.
The reason it is so scary is because she is 100% right. All of humanities power comes from the ability to band together. One person is not much of a threat. But 100 people could be. She didn't really underestimate her opponents. She over estimated them in most cases. She is not a hot headed villain. She is a cold calculating villain. Logical over emotional most of the time.
I've started using this video as a response to people when they ask: "So I've never seen any of it. What is RWBY about?" It's a tantalyzing way to provide a little teaser of backstory without giving it away. Everyone I've shown this assembly of narration to has wanted to at least check it out. 👍👍👍
>"This is the beginning of the end Ozpin, and I can't wait to watch you burn" >Screen fades to black >Drums kick in >The most badass song you've ever heard starts playing I love this ending.
3:40 This honestly has the same energy as the Witch Queen post credits scene with The Witness…. Come to think of it, The Witness is everything Salem _wishes_ she could be… Of course if Salem were ever actually fought in Destiny, Player Guardians would 100% bypass the whole immortality curse by just turning her into an indestructible gun with unlimited ammo.
@@generalstory9938 you’re welcome and yeah Halo is a series that has SO many characters with all these different names it’s hard to keep track of them all let alone spell them.
Salem: Heroe speach Also salem: But I'm a villain Me: Not gonna lie she had us in the first half Every minute in Africa, sixty seconds pases please adopted a split second now to prevent time reaching an hour
Salem's original character design is more scary then her current design this one is more creepy and robotic in movement 😨 is a uncanny valley thing that go's for Cinders design to
Hold up, the people from before the gods left could use elemental magic but all of them were turned into dust by Darkness when the gods left and with Dust people can use magic without being born with it so is the Dust used by Remnant's population the crystalised remains of the old people?
