Can hear the reverse horn of the tow truck that comes to collect that old red thing... Just joking, love the old V8 Defenders. I've got an Ambulance body FC 101 V8, my big baby... 👍🏻 🇿🇦 👍🏻
Yep, I had one of these in the 80s. I loved In my opinion the “classic” Mk1 (original 2-door version) and the Mk3 (L322) which I have now, are the two best looking versions Land Rover made. The Mk2 was produced on a tight budget and looked bland & uninspiring, and the more recent L405 & L460 look too curvy streamlined for my taste, I prefer the traditionally squared-off look for a 4x4. One of the best features of the Mk1 was it’s all-round visibility, the windows were huge and sat pretty low relative to the high driving position, plus the castellations on the corners of the bonnet made parking easy. Not needed now I suppose, with cameras & sensors, but still nice to have. Mine was a 3.0 Mazda diesel conversion (quite popular at the time as the fuel consumption of the V8 was prohibitive) but the conversion on mine was a botched job and I ended up putting a V8 back in it (which wasn’t that expensive as the scrappers yards were full of rotting Rover SD1 cars with the same engine, in good order despite the rest of the car disintegrating around them.) I picked one up for £50! Sadly had to sell the vehicle soon afterwards… 12mpg on a 20 mile daily commute didn’t really work for me!
Exact same model year and colour as my first Range Rover I bought 37 years ago. I had the cloth seats and headrests wich was an option at the time but no power steering wich also was a option in 1974. Very nice to see one again in such a good condition. For sale?😊
