I remember going to target and Walmart in morning before school and getting the leias out of the box and selling them at flea market . Then when the greens came out I actually sold a bunch for 25 a piece because they were so hot

That’s what I’m talking about Andy…. Finally somebody being real about toy collecting… I am doing the same… Setting up my basement with nice shelving from IKEA….displaying stuff and calling it quits…. Moving on to real life stuff like fixing up the house…and enjoying life
After 26 years of collecting Star Wars, I quitted collecting. now all I collect is Neca figures. My reason for not buying SW anymore is mostly because SW sucks now.
I don't blame you at all. I got rid of all my Star Wars figures last month. I collect GI Joe also so now I'm gonna Put a stop to that too. It's sad because I'm 53 years old and I've been collecting since I was 6. But these price increases And delays Is destroying collecting for me. But the biggest reason of all is that I'm getting rid of the bubble. I'm an embarrassed collector so this is a death sentence. so sad.
You know why it died out on you? Here's the answer. Try to collect uncommon toys. Like stuff that you don't get from toys r us, target, walmart, etc... and collect high end ones. Stuff that you are really passionate about. Marvel Legend, TMNT, GI Joes, transformers and Star Wars are too common. soon you will realize that they're all garbage, re-used molds and cheap. Trust me you'll get satisfaction and the feeling just by looking and holding it you'll know you're contempt. REMEMBER Marvel Legend, TMNT, GI Joes, Transformers and Star Wars are GARBAGE. They'll never stop making these toys. You'll realize that instead of collecting you're hoarding and the passion is all gone. LOL!!!
Just an update - I've got all the figures I needed (So many to count but Jonathan Toews SPD & Cup Figure, Gordie Howe Series 6 Legends, Wayne Gretzky series 4 Legends EDM w Cup, Jon Tavares Silver Lvl Collectable Lvl, Khabibulin Jets Variant Legends series 11, Martin Brodeur Series 9 w Cup - picked it up for 20$ on Kijiki and Steve Yzerman series 6 w Cup.)
You've taken a first step into a larger world. :) 22 years ago I said to myself "They're never going to stop making this stuff" and I did a major purge from 2000 to 2013. My vintage Kenner stuff got narrowed way down to what fit in a display cabinet in the corner of the lower level of our house. I call it "The Man Room." :D I mainly kept my childhood figures and carded figures/Early Bird Set/Sears Cantina that I purchased from my brother in the late 1980s. 99.9% of my POTF2 Episode I stuff was sold. Since then, all I've purchased was a few VC figures, the VC BMF, Amazon Slave I, Target Landspeeder and a few misc. figures to display with them. I'm a since '77er, so there's no real nostalgia for any toys made after 1985, so it was easy to let it go. It took up an entire spare bedroom in my previous home. IMO, Disney doesn't understand Star Wars for the most part, so I'm not missing anything. I did like the first 2 seasons of the Mandalorian, courtesy of my bootleg DVDs (lol) and I'd love to have that figure you have on the shelf, but nothing that good is ever on the shelf at the Walmart when the lovely wife and I go shopping. Just my friendly advice, of course, but if you don't have a place to properly display it, you won't enjoy it. But yeah, Hasbro sucks. ;) Some of us collectors have lives and the days of going from store to store to store to store to store to store is a waste of time, gasoline and wear & tear on your vehicle.
Can't agree more! I am in a different age bracket, so the POTF2 were my childhood toys (I can still remember my much older cousin telling me he used to have Star Wars toys but gave them away) and I always wanted Star Wars and when I walked into that TRU aisle in '95 and saw those red cards I knew that I needed them all. I definitely agree that if I can't see it, I don't want to own it. I am not going to sell anything that isn't a double until I get into the new house, just to give myself some time to dwell on everything. Thanks for the great comment!
Toy collecting died when Toys R Us/ K B Toys went out of Business. Now you have to pre order everything, which takes the fun out of finding figures out in the wild. Plus Disney Star Wars with hasbro are just milking the fuck out of everyone. Just look at the black krrsantan, using the same Chewbacca mold for three other figures. But people will never learn, that Hasbro is just laughing to the bank with peoples money. Consumerism in its finest.
Awesome The last week buy Jyn Erzo And i have a Sith Trooper I want buy the Star Wars Revela Figures together with Luke, Leia, Asoka, Darth Sidious and Master Yoda
