Why don’t you give a class to these volunteers on how to use the fuckin thing? Obviously looking at that without an idea of what does what, you might as well have a monkey do it
The best thing we ever did was to get a digital console (XR18). I dial in the presets, and all others have to do is handle levels. Sounds good every week.
So I run my churches audio interface and I am the only one who toutches it, the guy before me was Proally in his 50-60’s and I’m only 15 so I reset everything and as church goes on I change it if needed, I’ve been doing it for about a year now so everything is set hoş it needs to be and I may make a few adjustments here and there but there is no order to my board because everything is different
wow I have a mixer just like that but a little bigger. I know very little about mixing, equalizers, mids,highs,lows… I got really frustrated after trying to get the right crisp, bright vocal sound. But after an hour of twisting & turnin & pushing every knob on the board, I gave up😪 And you’re absolutely right. If you have no frickin clue what ur doing, “just leave it.” Haha. The greatest advice I’ve come across so far 😅
The biggest problem I’ve experienced is not understanding that you need to turn mic gain up. It’s generally a half to a third of the level it should be.
There are some ppl that have a constant volume voice. Meaning you can play with the eq knobs. Other ppl are all over the place, in that case, leave the eq knobs alone.
funny story. i work at a camp with a theater venue for kids to showcase their talents. they have a nice ass soundboard, some very nice mics and nice speakers. only problem is NONE of them know how to operate that stuff nor set it up. There's always a problem with the mics giving so much feedback from small movements. I'm actually gonna ask if I could just go to the booth myself just to see whats going on, because im like 99% sure they're using the gain knob as volume and prob has every EQ effect raised high
Learn if you don't know , if not Google it and study audio . Or your church will sound terrible. Volunteers are in need of training .it is not that hard. And their is rules.
I don’t add any be it as I don’t understand why I’m adding or taking away. I always get a professional to come set compression on our presnous board tho. It’s the only thing I like to add for our mix. To reduce the harshness if we get in to the -12 db range or a little higher
What about for acoustic guitars? I had a pickup installed in my Larravee parlor guitar and don't like how 9 volt batteries desintegrate over time. Looks pretty awesome?

I do know what they are …. And that is exactly what i do… Tone knob (low pass filter) on the guitar, E on the gain stage 1 Tone knob in gain stage 2 Eq for the reverb, eq for the delay And 5 knob eq on the amp 1 and 5 knob eq on amp two… And all i do it turn them till they sound good… and depending of the venue they will end up in a different place…. And you tell me… it would sound better if i just leave the amp how they are if i otherwisely just push and cut where my ears want to
