I am a folkestone lad, born 1950, back then many many families would camp out in the area behind folkestone east railway station, cooking was done on open fires, that area was called the warren And of course, yes, life was very very different, people were satisfied, unlike today, we would go down, walking, in the evening and sleep out in the open, memories
Ich war 1989 in Portinatx. Damals noch eine Neckermann Reisen im Club 28 oder so ähnlich. Traumhaft war es . Ich bin dankbar dass ich diesen schönen Ort besuchen konnte. Danke für das Video.
I played on that beach 70 years ago when I was 6. It’s beautiful but made me feel sad I was put in a home there with my brother and sister when we lost our parents 😢

4:41. Never understood why local planners in the 1960s or 70s allowed the semi demolition of a very fine period building to the left and the construction of a quite awful block of flats shoe-horned in its place?
Great shots. Hugely fond memories of Folkestone back in its 1960s heyday. Looks like a number of fine Victorian and Edwardian buildings have gone from the harbour area and along The Leas front. Beggars the question, why?
Beautiful footage! I'm on the monument's committee & was wondering if you would mind posting this (or a link to this video) to our Facebook page, please?
Folkestone lifted and restored me after a big personal crash, if I was ever to try and explain how it did that, this overhead footage seems to give an insight. I have lived by the sea b4 I live by the sea today in a very very wonderfull place, however Folkestone is a special place, but I miss the Grand and hope that some sympathetic individual will come along and extend it some love. I have lived in the building ,had many a drink in Kepples and met great folk from all walks of life all corners of the town and surrounding countryside , just tiny bit of magic lost but Folkestone has character in spades, god bless her.
There will be an updated Folkestone Film comming soon. Here is 3 360 photos taken while shooting the new film kuula.co/share/7SMrP/collection/7YxJ9?fs=1&vr=0&sd=1&thumbs=1&info=1&logo=1&fbclid=IwAR2csJ15S_aI7IChZdFjFomNvTuKhy7RiLg36Y5OpoYDS5qE26VUNme6I8g
I worked on that job, been playing spot my digger all the way through and it's a hell of a project to have been pulled off in the short space of time that we did, my lagoons look mint 😍
Love this photage! We're hiking it next weekend. For drone photography and videos in the area do we need any permit? Is there any Swiss site where I can check where is it needed? Here in Netherlands is virtually impossible fly one
3:20 - From my childhood recollection of well over 50 years ago now, there was a long warehouse-size shed to the right of the two people in the shot. Inside the shed were numerous WW2 period military cars and trucks, which we used to sneak in and play in when we came to Folkestone for our regular summer holidays. It was a wonderful place to stay then.
One of my all time favourite videos on youtube! Trust me I spend several hours a day on the site. Well done . Was feeling down with the lock down & just had to watch it again. Cheers for making me happy!
