Less of a whiskey review channel and more of a whiskey reaction channel, think of Stuff & Whiskey content like you're pulling up a chair and sharing a pour with friends.
Josh is the bourbon enthusiast responsible for the channel's nerdy whiskey knowledge (and more importantly, remembering what Erin likes and doesn't like). Erin is the social sipper, rye lover, and color commentary for the channel. They're also husband and wife, which makes for fun banter and random tangents.

A whiskey fan and a truck driver I am also. It makes it difficult sometimes. I am local but don't try to get into much on weekdays since I have to be up at 4am to get to work. Question since you said that, what kind of driving job do you have?
I feel you on the early mornings. Been waking up at 5am to go from Nashville,TN to Mount Vernon, IL and back each day but next week I start waking up at 3:30am to go from Nashville, TN to Jackson, GA daily. Been at UPS for 23 years, 9 of those in delivery driving and the last decade in tractor trailers.
Just had a Jack Bonded - will be grabbing a few more of those… OF rye is probably my favorite cheap pour. Love that dance in the tongue - I think you guys turned me on to it.
I get why people don’t like bib. I’ve gone through more of them than any other bottle by far. It gives me the profile and punch I want for the price I want. I’ve only gotten a weird play dough note on it twice when my palate was off. I’ve had some Ecbp’s where I thought I’d rather have four ew’s instead of the Ecbp. And Josh is right about the batch variance and I love that about it too
Appreciate the feedback. We try to leave them up for around a minute or more. It’s intrusive to leave them up for too long though. Definitely a balancing act. Appreciate you watching!
EW BIB has some young sharp notes on the nose and palate. I enjoy the EW 1783 quite a bit more as it has a bit more age. I like to put an aging stick in the EW BIB to get rid of those edges. After the aging stick, it reminds me quite a bit of the Henry McKenna BIB. You can easily tell those are from the same distillate from the nose and palate.
Got a bottle from my local kroger store today for $204 out the door. Just happen to walk in when they got a case hand delivered from a rep. 🤯… never seen one for retail, never owned one… I’m hyped
We didn’t mix them up but just goes to show you how you can get different notes and experiences when you don’t know what you’re drinking. You go in thinking cherry on OF and spice on WT and that’s what you’ll get, but if you don’t know, both glasses get a much more fair shake.
I never know whether Erin's going to agree with me, because she gets some of the weirdest notes. But I usually do find that Josh and I have congruent palates. And right off the bat Josh agrees with me that Evan Williams BiB is good. 🙂 I've not had the 12 year, so I can't comment on it. I do know that I can't stand the ordinary EW black label. At that price I won't try the 12 year - I can't afford it even if it's worth it. And since I do like the Bottled In Bond, and the price is easy (the last bottle I had was, IIRC, $17), I'll buy it again, probably fairly soon. 🙂 17:10 I've experienced that inconsistency myself. My first three bottles of Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon were the best whisky I've ever had on the nose, the palate, and the finish. But the last three, while exactly the same on the nose, and still very good on the palate and the finish, were different on the palate and the finish. They were still very good, but weren't the best whisky I've ever had. What that Balcones bourbon tastes like now I don't know. I've been looking for it, but it's disappeared from the shelves since they quit making it, even though they should still have enough on hand for another year or so. 18:01 Erin's right - if you don't talk so fast your tongue tangles less. 🙂
Williams white was my first bottle, it's just ok, decent mixer. Won't pay $150 for anything, sorry. For the under $20, going with Benchmark Top Floor, JTS Brown or Grandad bonded.
I had white label bottle recently and seemed to me adequate to the price, what stood out though when tasting it, was that once you put it side by side with basically anything and got back to EW, instantly there was some weird taste which threw it down a lot for me, if you had just EW, it was generally fine, but probably not buying any time soon, as here in EU we have for example Rare Breed NCF 1 liter bottle for 53 dollars or what seemed better to me and also is BiB, was Jack Daniels BiB, also 1 liter bottle around 37 dollars. EW BiB kept ridiculous price for long, but now it is available here around 20-25 dollars...
@@Bushy556 that + Old Forester 100 PR Rye (I prefer rye in old-fashioneds) some of the best deals out there. The king of which is OGD 114 IMO. Such a banger bottle for $32.99
It seems Evan W & Elijah Craig use the same mash bill, 78 12 10, with barley (not rye) being the secondary grain. They are both Heaven Hill, so does anyone know if they are made at the same place or is there actually separate distilleries & rickhouses for both labels? Either way, the only difference between EW & EC bourbon could be yeast, barrels & aging process (time, location). It's possible they spend more on higher quality barrels for EC, though would guess it's mostly more time aging.
It's all the same stuff coming off the still at Bernheim in Louisville. The differentiator is where they age and what barrels can be used to create a given taste profile.
