Hosted by the UK-US brother and sister duo Lauren Jane Barnett and Chris Sapikowski. Two siblings, living in two countries, talking about one thing they both love: Horror.
A fabulous Hammer with great production value, a demented and sickly looking Peter Cushing as a mad Puritan zealot playing opposite a suave and decadent Count looking for kicks with a bit of devil worship and vampirism. Lots of nudity and some good gore, plush lush sets and some witch hunting thrown in too. Love the western style music score, and the whole style and pace of the film is great.
Loved doing this...but you know what the real twins of evil are? The two massive bags under my eyes! :) That's what happens after a week out in North Carolina!!!!
Whilst the story is a bit hit and miss, I really like the general ‘vibe’ of Hands of the Ripper. I think the St. Paul’s location and that arial shot are fab, but I also really like the use of other great locations such as Windsor & Eton Central station.
A very nice location there I must say though as far as Hammer goes, Hands of the Ripper for me is right down at the very bottom along with things like Vampire Lovers or Vampire Circus, '70s Hammer really is very much a hit or miss thing for the most part compared to their glory days in the late '50s/early '60s.
I am so very nostalgic about the 50s/60s films because I saw them when I was young on the late-night movies, but as I've gotten older I've started to appreciate the later (non-Dracula) films like Hands of the Ripper, or Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde. They had just great ideas. Not always executed as ell, but the storylines were quite clever and cutting edge. I'll agree with you on Vampire Lover's though, definitely just a silly watch, though my partner loves it hehe!
My favorite Walker movie along with The Comeback (1978), they're all very good... By the way, there's a new Blu-ray box-set with 7 Walker films just released from 88 Films.
Another great chat guys! I’ve met Georgie a couple of times and she is lovely…love her takes on the life of an indie film creative. The comments about if there’s no work going on create your own, particularly resonates.
1. Christmas Evil 2. Black Christmas 3. Silent Night, Deadly Night 4. "The Christmas Story" episode of Dead of Night 5. "All through the House" segment of Tales from the Crypt. 🎄 🔪
So cool, Lauren! I had such a blast with you and Tony at the Winchester Mystery House! Thank you so much for having me join you on the London Horror Movie Club! 💗💋
I loved Talk to Me. I saw F when it first came out.. Crankin start but fizzled out in the hallways. I'm doing Evil Children Films this week. Reviewing "situational horror" for Halloween month. Just Google when you're looking to find a film for free. 🎃
Very cool insights into special effects makeup and horror fandom. Jay is brilliant and I have had the pleasure of working with him on various movies including Witches of the Sands that we are all itching to see completed.
Great chat…Dani is fantastic both on screen and off. By the way, Richard Jones who Dani mentioned has got his own Jack the Ripper RU-vid channel which is really informative and entertaining: youtube.com/@JackTheRipperTours
