I always say “ a .308 is great and a 20 is plenty “ I sold my Benelli M2 field 12 gauge a couple of years ago and bought a Beretta A400 Xplor 20 gauge. Absolutely love it ! 20 gauge with 3” 1 & 1/8 ounce #2 waterfowl load will hammer em just as good as a 12 gauge.
I just got a leg banded, backpack transmitter bluewing today. What do ya do with the transmitter? The bird banding lab website is down so cant report the band #
@@CampusWaterfowl no. Nothing. Reportband.gov website is temporarily down so I can't even report the band#. Once I can report the band # I'm sure it'll have further instruction or info on the transmitter. So far I'm the only guy I know that has a transmitter on my lanyard. For now. This little duck flies right over roads and only goes to public waters via the public access.lol
I got started with fishing waders, an army surplus field jacket, 6 _Carry-lite_ decoys, and a 20 ga. pump shotgun. The limitations of that gun taught me to decoy geese in close or pass - no Hail Mary skybusting. This video covered the main points of the sport but like any art, you could spend a lifetime mastering it.
We need these high dollar duck farms to stop “baiting” by leaving standing crops. If the natural foods and agricultural are either picked up or eaten the ducks don’t have to migrate south. Unlimited food source. It’s just like the red cockaded woodpecker we put their holes in the trees now they don’t know how to peck.
Way to stay with it. Even though it’s not physically posted, have you been checking for the electronic posting? They started a few years ago you have to be careful.
@@CampusWaterfowl it makes it more challenging. I wish I just needed to be posted. Every 800 yards thanks for responding. I’ll be in North Dakota in October coming up from Florida for the past 20 years. DU member Forever!
It’s not true a 12 ga has more range due to having more shot in the pattern at all range and thus the pattern is effective at greater range And what wrong with a young man that thinks it’s hard to swing a twelve ga
Sometimes calling is good, others not. When the birds flying are calling a lot, I one time honked with my mouth, terribly, and it still brought them in because they could only hear each other, and just wanted any kind of noise from the ground
i love 20 gauge but as a Duck hunter no way i will switch and yeah it afect the range and the patern you can kill a Black Duck but its not even close from wath a 12 gauge can do cant kill a duck at 40 yards with that 20 gauge and you need 3 inch
