I know, you just can't shut him up! 🤣🤣🤣 I all honesty though, it was a spectacular trip, abd we spent far to long waffling the whole time, so I think Iay be (almost) as bad! 🤣🤣
Good to see you in my neck of the woods mate, great video, James even though the weather wasn't great but it all adds to the fun. Stay safe out there Jimbo 🤘
Hi there! Yes the Rakoon can take 2x sleeping pads side by side with still room down the sides for gear. I personally have used two Alpkit Dirtbag pads in there, and there was still plenty of room in the width! Hope this helps! 🙏💚
James that’s brilliant. 90% of my home furnishings arei recycled or upcycled. I am a volunteer at the Woodhouse Centre/Men in Sheds Oxted So good to see your projects. I have shared with the centre…you would be most welcome to come and visit our centre…I’m not sure how far away you are from Oxted?
That sounds amazing! (apologies for the delay in reply by the way!). I'm not far from Oxted (maybe an hours drive?) and would love to come and visit the men in sheds/Woodhouse project! Please either reply back on here or send me an email as sussexoutdoorsuk@gmail.com and we can sort something out! Thank you so much for following along! 🙏💚
I tried that before... Lost most of the down to the breeze... I'll definitely wear a mask next time I have to do this though, as so many bits went up my nose while I was doing that. 🙏💚
I bet he told you it had been dry cleaned before sending it on to you, James? 😂 I’m surprised that down wasn’t matted together and full of leprosy scabs. Top work mate. You have the patience of a saint 😉👍🏼
I filtered out the scabs, don't worry mate! (I'll save them for another project! 🤣🤣). It always takes a long time to deconstruct something to be able to re-purpose it, but it's worth it in the long run! 🙏💚
Thank you, and I'm glad to have helped with some inspiration! Not completely sure what I'm going to do with the rest of the down I have yet, but a lightweight hammock under quilt might be good use for it! Cheers for watching, and all the best. James 🙏💚
Absolutely awesome work James... The amount of work that goes into making something that seems so simple to the layman to "knock up" is astounding. I'm so chuffed with it. Thank you so much for my one off ❤️ Love it. ❤️ I'm so glad that it shouldn't of been as stinky as it was before the dry cleaner Killed it 😂😂😂 #Smoke #CampingSmells #Farts 😂
🤣🤣🤣 If I hadn't have known, it would have got the old one-two in the washing machine before I started playing with it... I'm sure there was still a lingering aroma of sprouts though... 🤣🤣🤣
Oh yes... She's a beast! Still using the original one for the lightweight gear (like the Down Pouches) but she really eats through the canvas! Ran some leather through it the other day... Didn't even wince, just stitched it! 🙏💚
What plate are you using? Looks good for the old multi-tasking. Still gathering kit for our first camp (if I can find a good spot). Grand video again, cheers James 🦚
I noted that when I was playing the video back while editing... I knew what I was doing at the time (and was aware of the sharp edge), but it did look a bit hap-hazard on the video! (maybe I'll not do that again! 🤣🤣) Cheers for following along! James 🙏 💚
Haha! I was very conscious of thst fact when I was doing it (that Opinel is purely the kitchen knife, and gets sharpened after every trip!) I knew what I was doing at the time, but it did look a little suspect when I was watching it back while editing! 🤣🤣 Cheers Mr Outdoors Senior! 🙏💚
Nice vid, James. Beautiful setting and the food looked like proper hearty stuff. Itching to get out in my Rakoon, couple of nights at a ‘nearly wild’ place booked for a couple of weeks’ time. Take care, ATB.
Cheers Chris! You still haven't got out in the Trash Panda yet? Here's to the next few weeks moving quick, and the weekend you're away moves slow... All the best mate, James 🙏 💚
I nearly did... (I was a bit thirsty to be fair!) it really is a cracking g little spot there... Went for a wander up there last weekend, and all the bluebells were gone. 😪 It's a shame you only get to see them for such a fleeting time! 🙏💚
great vid bro , the colours all around are fantastic , they would make a beautiful oil painting😉 , its good you have such a place to go to , Enjoy , stay safe ,, looking forward to next one 👍👍
Cheers Matt, it truly was wonderful (the camera really doesn't do the colours justice!) it was a well needed night out, looking forward to the next one too! 🙏💚
That woodland setting for your camp is beautiful. Fantastic grub too; quality camping food. Well done with the wood carving too. Need to put April in to my diary for 2025 as we discussed. Cheers, Warren :)
Consider it booked in already! I was fortunate to catch them this year, didn't get back to that spot for a couple of weeks after I'd recorded this, and they'd all gone! Good health and all the best, James 🙏💚
I did make a couple of pot cosys like that a few years back. They worked really well, apart from the aluminium tape got a bit flimsy and broke after a few months of use. 🤣
Many years... (nearly 40ish?)... I do plan to visit again... The camp site is still there, overlooking the beach! That will definitely be one to video! 🙏💚
