Great idea! I have done something similar to hold my stamps. I had ti make the box shorter to fit the shelves they go on. They sort of like short file folders. Just covered them in my old dictionary paper.
This is so creative what kind of stitches that it looks a bit like Coptic but then not.... Do you have a tutorial on that or where did you learn that stitch?❤
It is called slipknot binding - I made a tutorial on it in the video before this one, but you can just search as there are plenty of videos out there I am sure! It is great for single page binding and super easy to do too!
I couldn’t see how you did this as you did it off the camera view. It looked sooooo interesting though. Hopefully you can show again bc I would absolutely love to learn this technique. Thanks for sharing anyways 😊
I am truly sorry I need to clearly improve my camera skills - I will try and make a short that shows a close up of how it works! Hopefully that will help!
Notes From Nature is such a beautiful artist book love everything that youve done. I'm going see if I can create something similar im not an artist or anything like that, hopefully it will turn out ok lol Looking forward to watching more of your videos and your beautiful creative work that you do.
@sharbee8033 thank you so much for your kind words!! You don’t need to be an “artist” to be a creative! Give it a go and I am sure it will be beautiful because you made it 🩷
Hi there! I am so glad I've gotten round to watching your tutorial. I admit I haven't bound a book/page before but I think this method is something I would try. I was wondering do you have a tutorial on your beautiful pages that you've done here for your book? I absolutely love what you've done, your pages are beautiful and creative , this is definitely my style.
I couldn’t see at all how she made the knots how did you watch it and see? Does she have another one or something? I would absolutely love to learn how to do this girl, if you have anyway I can see and learn how would you please share with me. Thanks a million friend.
The camera was a bit to high. Was hard to see what you were doing. But i think your verbal explanation helped Will try this out. Seems like an interesting way for certain projects
Oh dear! Clearly my filming skills are in dire need of help! That or I need more space! I’m glad you were still able to understand - and hope you give it a go!
Super!! I will try this. With the cost of crafting tools, this is a great, easy idea. I was thinking with storage, one drop of conditioner might be useful for rehydrating rather than water? Thanks for the experiment!!!
I really like that its not full of decor and embellishments. It makes the paper the focus and you have place to write in it. Or decorate it yourself. I wouldnt like to get a journal full of stuff just so it is full. Wouldnt be able to use it
I love this journal and I'm intrigued by the binding technique. Though the embellishments are spare, the pages have a great vibe.Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for watching! I do have a process video for how I made the binding of this journal - it is the video I posted the other day, right before this one, if you want to give it a go!
Great video! I have a lot of shadows i dont use anymore and ibalways looking fwd a wayvto use them for my scrap. If you have more videos about this topic, please let me know to have a look. Many thanks!
That looks neat! I also like the use of the pages from a colouring book. Why didnt it ocure to me i could use those? I have so many! Maxbe because i am hesitent of ripping pages out.. but better they get used in a project like this instead if beeing forgotten by me in a book..
Not yet finished the video but: Wheat paste? Oh are you starching the cloth? I am wondering 🤔😁 Lets see what you are cooking up Edit: Okay so i was kinda wrong haha xD So i have two questions First: even essencial oils can go rancid (not that it would matter much in this context) can you use every kind of essencial oils or is there some kind thats better suited? I have heard of a certain type for preserving because of its properties but i forgott which kind it was.. Second: what about contact with water/fluids? You said its going to be water proof. I guess you mean resistent or repellent from the shiny side because i cant imagine it beeingwater proof. Isnt the mixture going to disolve in water? I mean i am not going to throw my books in the bath tub xD but still it would be interesting to know I am looking forward to seeing your cloth in action :)
Hello! Ok I will do my best to reply! Starting with the essential oils… tea tree oil (aka meleluca) and clove oil are both anti fungal and so used in preservation. Differently from cooking oils, essential oils are not fats that can go rancid - they are extracts of a plants medicinal qualities created through distillation I believe. So in theory you shouldn’t have that problem! Second water proofing - yes I should have said water resistant! I think the only thing that is truly water proof is plastic 😂 the barrier created by the wheat paste stops the glue from seeping through the book cloth when you add it to your chipboard. It also makes it stiffer so it is easier to lay flat etc. and in theory if you do take you book outside and it gets some rain on it it should be fine! I hope I haven’t actually tried sticking a book in the rain yet!
Oh my! I am so sorry! I didn't get notified that you replied to my message! I am now making my own cloth with your video as a tutorial. Thank you very much for your very indepth reply :)
@@wildandfreeart Haha what a coincidence! You have to share it with us when you are ready :) i am not on social Media so i think thats difficult. But maybe i will blow the dust off of my Instagram acc ;) Your Video fits so well because i just bought 4 books full of quotes from around the world, from a second hand shop (the best source for interesting books) They are not dedications but i could surely use them in a similar fashion or in my common place book
I once made paper myself during a course. Thats a cool idea to make it your own. But before buying material to make paper at home , I think i just throw it in the paper bin. Someone else is making new paper out if it 😅
