. . .This version of the song is the best one of those available and I want a copy for when I go on Scotland's trains! It goes perfectly with the DMU as it enters and departs from the stations, and I wish they'd re-sign our railways with those lovely old coloured Regional Name Boards and Sausage Totem Signs again!! . . .Can you find out the Album/Name of the Artist please? Chris Williams
Brilliant footage! Moved away about 8yrs ago but was a Methil man for 30yrs! Great place to stay! Town full of proper hardmen and grafters! At least it was! The town produced many good boxers and even world class fighters in other disciplines! Lots of the buildings still standing but many gone now! The old Bayview football ground home to east fife FC gone many years ago.
I was a beach life guard (RLSS and ASA)on Leven beach in the late 60s early 70s. The bothy we used is shown at 5.10. Its no longer standing and that area today is a caravan park. I see todays life guards have it lucky as they are sheltered in a look out hut. O by the way ,the waters freezin! Enjoy😇.
Too bad there’s not one from St.Andrews to Dundee via Tayport and Newport on Tay. No University buildings at St.Andrews and indeed no Old Course Hotel. The clump of trees just before the walk bridge are there though. Strange cluster of trees sitting there on their own but they say St. Andrews to me when I see them. I think the bridge came to an end in the 80s when it had incident with an articulated lorry. Must have been one of those new high sided ones that they had introduced.
The Times Have Changed My father Who was A Policeman in the 50's 60's and 70's and me lol im now in me 60's and love this I know Everywhere that is on This Video Thank you for Playing This.
Just imagine what a fabulous heritage line this would have made. Imagine the value it would have today as a draw for tourism there. Steam trains along the Fife coast into St Andrews. The Americans already love St Andrews - imagine if students could arrive to University "Harry Potter-style"! I've stayed in St Monans, Pittenweem, St Andrews and Elie. There are remains of this line to be seen all along the route. It's very possibly my favourite part of the world. Adrian
To Trina Methven (from Methil) and our Son, Ian Edward Methven (both still with us, I believe). Memories of serendipitously meeting Petrina in Kinghorn, Easter 1970. All my Love. Stay free. R 💖 🌠 🌠

Fish so fresh, delivered in by local boats. Ma Pops, Grandad, was frae Eberdeen, ken, didnae unnerstan a wurd tha loon sid........They bmoved to the middle, Perth. Ye Gods, I could be a bystander in one of these
I came here by searching for the origin of the word "metil" since it is also an old word in Germany and in the town Eisenach, there is a stone/old castle build on a metil stone. I suppose it derives from metal. Somehow it reminds me also on mystery and magic. - This is a lovely footage of old times. Although I never was on the big isle, it gives me a feeling how people lived and I feel almost if I was there. It is a joy to see the people posing and children playing. Thank you for sharing a part of your history!
What a wonderful video. Most, if not all, of those grand folk are no longer with us but here are their amazing moments for us to enjoy. THANK YOU. Stoozer.
I grew up there in poverty in the50s 60s got out in 74 went to Australia not poor now ,been back a few times still no jobs there for every one but it’s ok I suppose
Are you happier now than when you left? Poverty doesn't equate to unhappiness. People can work from home now the times are a changing. There is no need to be in a office people can work from anywhere there is a internet connection.
What a beautiful light railway that could have been today. Recently took the admittedly excellent bus service through the Kingdom, but that rail service would be better in so many ways. Min’s a Jarl ..
Hi there. We are working on a piece about the old Leven train line for tonight’s STV News at 6 - would you be ok for us to use a short extract of it if we credit your name? Many thanks, Kaye.
