i think conventional forces earn a bit more credit than sof at times. like, thinking about all the kids that went 11b at the height of oif. their training wasn't nearly as extensive. imagine being 18, never been in a fight, kind of nerdy and you've been wimpy your whole life. but you joined and toughened up through bootcamp and everything after, but you're still new to the military. you start off in iraq in a safer zone and you're allowed to work your way up in intensity instead of just being dumped in 04 fallujah. but you get hit by an ied followed by a heavy ass assault. you barely know what an L shaped ambush is and now you have dshka rounds and rpg fucking up everything. it's just a really bad day but you survive we're all going to feel for that kid and respect him just as much as a real life rambo
Some of the medics I served with bordered on reckless with their total disregard for their own safety to help others. We kept a close eye on 'Doc' and let him know we needed him up to keep us up.
I shot the barrett a few yrs ago at a range with my buddy and was next to him when he shot….not a good idea…after shooting it just times I felt like I had the flu for the rest of the day

It is funny, ever survival challenge on TV, they always have a marine or ex soldier. The never finish the challenge. Army men are used to the groupe. If you are lost you always have the mentality that they are looking for me. The take orders and think like a group. When it comes to alone you fall apart, You are train for 1 job, the other are assigned their job. The groupe is ONE. Alone is like a corps with no limbs. They don’t play alone because they are not trained as a singular person. The mentality I was in the army so I know how to survive is not true. It is the lone wolf that has all the knowledge…survive without the knowing that someone will rescue you his the key factor. This Generation without a phone will die clueless. I can put a stick in the ground and know the approx hr, and East and west, and figure my north and south. Forage as I walk. And how to keep my Bering and I’m a 59 yr hold woman. I was brought up outside in the country!
I had to do plenty of rucking in the Marine Corps. Never enjoyed it lol, but I had two buddies who were in Development for AFSW and they asked me to do a night ruck with them. We ended up getting totally lost and a 10 mile hike turned into a 16-17 miler. I was not a happy camper lol.
I wish they wouldve told eachother stuff like "I love you brother" and things like that... it wouldve made a few scenses hit WAY harder like when Jons character died i thought Shia did a FANTASTIC job acting
Even the original German film was an anti war film. And I love every second of the new film too. Every second of the movie feels so particularly curated and crafted to display something to give off an emotion. Weather it’s happiness, relief, dread, sadness, etc. Both the original movie and this new film is a hidden gem of a war film that it’s upsetting not too many people talk about it like they do fury or private ryan.
