Communists should not be teaching business classes. They dont have a clue. Oh yeah and hobble the great so the mediocre can Excell. Yes he is the great leader of mediocrity. And who are you sir to say whats justice .what a flight of fancy. His ideas are shit
This is the leader of the flatland. Where everyone is equal. A control freak. An actual authoritarian in sheeps clothing. His little survey exposed envy and resentment not justice
Forget this guy. The truth is YOU, like everyone else, has the right to your own life, that you can rise as far as your mind and ability will take you, that you don’t have to justify your life to anyone, and no one has the right to take away that which you have earned.
One of the most 'impactful' conferences I have ever attended Kudos to team at IESE for pulling off such large scale event with an aim to really bring some difference to budding women leaders!
Improving the common good should be the ultimate goal of all people. That is the message of Jesus and Ben Franklin. Orientals surely have examples of their own. When speaking of Messi the professor stopped short. He acknowledged that the footballer was at the very top of his game and that some teachers were also the very best, but then he stopped. The next step should have included that not only was Messi the superstar but that the market judged he was and pays far more to watch him than it will to have superstar teachers. (No contracts for live broadcasts of 11th-grade geometry class are made in the US let alone Brazil or England.) The second shortcoming of Prof. Sandel's analysis concerns the level of starting advantages. For opportunities to be completely equal, we have to go past all 3-year-old's nutrition and medical care to family values and even to DNA. Ultimately, the professor talks himself away from striving for equal opportunity to equal outcomes (though he carefully rephrases). Additionally, he should have noted there are many ways to share in the bounties of life - from missionaries to mentors.

Excelente charla. Os pediría un guion acerca de los 3 bloques que habéis comentado. Los 2 primeros se entremezclan mucho y quizá sea algo complejo de entender. Estoy realizando una investigación universitaria acerca de este tema y me sería de gran ayuda
How is this different from communism? Immature people are always bitter when others make money, but when they themselves make money they think they have "love" in their hearts. Other people just don't have "love".
The Messi example suggests there may be something wrong with the distribution of wealth, but that does not necessarily mean something's wrong with meritocracy.
I think the example with messi was not directed at meritocracy, but more towards showing that free markets do not bring about meritocracy, or for that matter, do not bring about a meritocratic distribution of wealth.
@svenhurlimann1099 he says high-school teacher should get paid comparable to Messi. I agree. Question is how can we modify the rules such that this happens.
@@CyberneticOrganism01 Agreed, I think we are on the same page here. Teachers should be paid higer wages and that top football athlestes do not need the extreme amounts of money they earn. Regarding the question of how we achive a more fair distribution of wealth, mr. Sandel suggests that meritocracy, as we as a society understand it, may not be the best way and that rather than focusing on individual achivments and skills, we should focus on what is beneficial for the common good, therefore not rewarding people for theyr Talents but for the contribution to society they make. Thats how I understand this talk and I agree with that, at least in large parts.

Why not pay workers enough to live in on with enough to save just rich people. You can't save if you don't make more than the cost of living. Trickle down economics did not work.

This is old school. I mean as AI matures maybe it's not a sinister type thing any longer? That's what this turns me off to AI. 1:33 AI has to learn the rules of morality, natural law, cause and effect, karma in order to truly be effective me thinks. IT's not going to be allowed to enslave humanity. Too bad for the globalists.
