This season could have been the best. But it ended up being one of the weakest. I know it was based on actors coming back, but I wanted to see the first come back as Jenny, Tara, Jesse, The Master(interact with Buffy), Kendra…. So many characters could have made an appearance. I still think season 7s storyline should have been two seasons.
One of my favorite scenes in the entire show. Doing it in reverse chronological order also made it pretty powerful. Bringing back old villains, matching parts of the First's speech to their personalities, and acknowledging Buffy's journey for 7 seasons was amazing. So much continuity and fan service.
The first said all the parameters are in line, also said quite a ride. The plan of The First started in the opening of season 6, when Willow returned Buffy to the living world, she returned, but in a new way. This bug of the system, allowed The First to discover who are the next slayers in the line, or the potentials, in that way, while Buffy was struggling with the dark times of adulthood, The First was hunting in terminator mode with the potentials. We don't know how many potentials The First already ended by that months mentioned by The Master. That means by the beginning of season 7, the damage of slayer line was already made. This explained that Buffy and Faith were the last ones in the plan of The First, all the potentials must be gone at that time. When Buffy did the spell at Chosen, we don't know how many slayers were, because we forgot that The First already busted a lot of them, also there is another weird sign of this, when Buffy was stabbed, she saw that a few of the new slayers were destroyed by the ubervamps, saddly Amanda was one of them, that explained why The First was careless about the spell of Buffy, this force knew still can win with the turok hans against the slayers. But also the spell changed the plans of The First, now Buffy and Faith don't need to be the last ones on the list, now they can be destroyed as well. Maybe this is also something that we don't know, but The first did, the spell of Buffy linked her power to the other slayers, but this could be literal, that means if she is falling, the others too
@@naimasophie The Eye explained that, basically Willow created a second line when she returned Buffy from grave, that means Faith and Buffy will call a new slayer if both die. The First saw this as a change to get rid the whole line, started with the potentials, then only need to leave Faith and Buffy from the last. Very complex season, according to Joss Whedom the last episode gonna be bigger, but they forgot to ask this to UPN, they aren't working for WB anymore at that time.
"It's not about right, It's not about wrong, It's about Power." And Joss knows something about it... evil, and power. Of dominance. Of authoritarianism.
Warren: "Spike is pretty cool." Glory: "I thought he was familiar!" Adam: "He failed me." Mayor: "Oh come on guys, the old gipper has a great sense of humour! I don't care for his swearing and other rude behavior but you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater hahahaha" Drusilla: "You guys can't have MY Spike..." The Master: "I still cannot believe that there are TWO Vampires in my family with souls."
What some people don't realize is that Buffy is dressed in the outfit she wore in the episode where she established her power over the watchers. The power speech.
You know a show is very good when every single villain is extremely well done and charismatic, each one of them yes even Warren, the sociopathic human villain (and he caused huge damage by killing Tara and generating dark Willow)... Only Buffy excelled in this no other show can compare!
I love it when a show can bring back all the villians / big bads in one season -- once upon a time did similar when the crew went to 'hell'/'underworld'
"Wait, shouldn't that next to last one been Angelus, not Darla?" *The First:* "Yes, but there's forces that even I dare not face. Like contractual obligations."
First of all, many thanks to the actors who once again made themselves available for this sequence, especially to Mark Metcalf and George Hertzberg, who went through the complete makeup procedure again. Then this sequence is the perfect reintroduction of the First Evil. It takes the form of all the main villains to date to show that it's not just another villain, it's the very concept of evil itself - then it takes the form of Buffy to say: now it's getting personal for the big showdown.
I was right in front of this collision. I think BBC may have the pilots names the wrong way round. I believe it was Bestchastnov in the stricken MIG fireball not as stated. I believe this as an aerial photographer friend was in Russia a few years later & was flown by Bestchastnov & I have a photo of him alongside his jet. He signed a photo of the Fairford MIG's for me. Sergei is much taller than Alex.
gonna be honest, the First Evil had so much potential as an antagonist, but season 7 was kinda meh. I only remember so much of it. but this scene is truly the First at its best.....
Because The First is villain from this time, The First needs a lot of CGI to be effective, Whedon got a good idea with the shape of Buffy, but getting bored soon, one better idea will be to bring other minor villains from the past, but that will cost a lot of money, and the ending had a lot of budget.
Oh god, I accidentally miss clicked and opened this vid.. "i had a speech" and goosebumps lifted me out of my seat.. Should really rewatch Buffy sometime soon (again).
Such a great scene. I think it's The First's best scene. After Conversations with Dead People the First fell pretty flat with me as a villain. Seemed like a lot of untapped potential for angst got missed out on because of scheduling conflicts and Amber Benson not wanting to play The First. Still this scene is powerful and a reward to all the loyal fans.
The First was bad written, this being should take the form of different villains by episode, that will make every episode more unique and scary, Using Buffy shape all the time was bored.
Agreed - I wish they would have shelled the money out to use more guest stars. I was sad this was the last time we saw Glory, Adam, & The Master. There were plenty of options to really play with the scoobies heads. This scene though is legit my fav in the series - super epic to have all five together. I would have loved to see Robia Lamorte back as Jenny this season too.
I just noticed something, the First Evil transformed into all the show's big bads in reverse, ending with the Master. Props to all of them especially Mark Metcalf and George Hertzberg who were dedicated enough to sit for hours to have the makeup reapplied.
Explained that The First was always there watching and waiting, and can't be destroyed, because is also The Evil from the souls that are beyond this plane, even if Buffy will try to clean The Earth of evil, there is still evil in the entire universe, this is a very big bad.
Absurdly powerful scene. But Dru shouldn’t have been able to touch him because The First wasn’t corporeal. Nevertheless, badass way to kick off the final season.
I assure you that on our little horrible TVs, when this episode was hired, Drusilla never touched Spike. Same thing of the fights: we simply couldn't see any errors. And Whedon knew that 😅.
